NIKKIBABE!! Congratulations!! I'm so happy to see that you have finally debanded!! Remember the old days when we were talking excitedly about closing our diastema? Soreness after removal of molar rings?

Hi everyone, i'm surprised I haven't seen any similar threads on this... I'm down to my final 2 appointments and on my last appointment, my orthodontist decided to remove my molar rings first before i'm officially debraced on the following month. What I noticed is that while removal of molar rings d...

Re: 3mm Gap?

Apologies if i'm not using the correct term (not an expert in this area) but I meant having two elastic power chain - with one over another. Its awesome!! Closed the gap real quickly even though I have very, very stubborn teeth. I swear I have the slowest progress ever with the normal wires/elastic ...

Re: braces-induced tmj?

Hi Anna!

I have clicky jaws even before starting my braces treatment. However I do realized getting power chains during my last adjustment gave me temporal pain just underneath my ears. If not, my clicky jaw are left in the same exact condition even before I got braces

Re: 3mm Gap?

In my experience, my extraction gap reduces by around 1mm each month with normal wire + elastic chain.
However my diastema gap closed REAL FAST! It moved by close to around 2mm in hours when my orthodontist used a double chain on me. It was like a miracle and I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Is 4 mm a significant overjet?

http://i40.tinypic.com/1zp1lhj.jpg I'm near the end of my treatment (my gaps are almost closed) and yet i'm still having the same amount of overjet right from the start, this is devastating! I raised my concern with my orthodontist and I think he plans to leave it at that because he thinks my overj...

Re: Profile Changes

if your teeth are not flaring out or anything, its not worth getting braces. Think of all the pain and implications involved. Forcibly pushing your entire arch back is gonna cause a lack of tongue space (eventually causing tongue thrusting and buck teeth), and extraction of teeth to make space can c...

Re: Is 4 mm a significant overjet?

I have a 3~4 mm overjet and my orthodontist claimed that its normal and refused to treat it for me :| but i'm pretty sure it isn't! I thought a 1mm-2mm overjet is much more optimal

Re: Braces didn't fix my overjet

Trust me, I have the same problem. My overjet is probably less than yours and I specifically went to the orthodontist to get braces for my pretty mild overjet. I had to get a tooth extracted for that. Fast forward, over 1 year later my overjet is still the same. I realized that your upper arch are l...
