Re: some people just don't understand...

I hate hate HATE when people say 'it adds character'...eh no - my teeth are messed up and I'm not proud of them and that has nothing to do with my character! People used to say that to me all the time about my front teeth that crossed over and I used to hate it - luckily now I don't have that proble...

Re: I think I might be getting a TMJ Issue

Well I had my latest appointment last Friday so just an update - my bite is back to normal! I spent a lot of time looking in the mirror and trying to find where my relaxed jaw bite was and then went and had a chat with my ortho. She placed a heavier wire on my bottom teeth (my 2nd last) and I swear ...

Re: I think I might be getting a TMJ Issue

Thanks for all the responses guys! I'm definitely going to bring this up next week at my appointment...I find that I'm clenching a lot more to try to hold my bite in place I guess so it could just be muscle tension...best to know for sure! I was a bit worried because my ortho doesnt seem to be takin...

I think I might be getting a TMJ Issue

Hello! I've read so much about TMJ on this boards and maybe this is a case of being TOO informed. I've been in braces for just over a year. About 2 months ago my bite started to change and I can't really figure out which bite is right. I've informed my ortho that I have a 'front' and 'back' b...

Re: Here We Go!!

Thanks Duncan - yeah I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up but it's impossible not too when you hear 'they should be off by Paddy's Day!' oh well...it's kind of been good in a way because it's made me realise there is NO WAY these things are coming off until I am 100% happy. Update from Wednesd...

Re: Here We Go!!

Well its coming close to St. Paddy's Day and surprise surprise there is no sign of me being debraced  It's not too bad...it would have been amazing but I kind of knew that 10 months early was too good to be true! We're not that far off yet though...I hope! The latest in my bracing story is that...

Re: Worried about nickel allergy

I also have a nickel allergy and have full metal on the bottom and top (with ceramic on the front 6 on top). I told my ortho and she had to order in special nickel free wires but other than that there was no problem. The wires were about €100 extra.

Definitely tell your ortho just in case!

Re: Quick Question

I got my lowers put on before my uppers because they were the most work. But my lowers moved much quicker than expected so they're now ahead of schedule, which means I should get my lowers off 2 months before my uppers (fingers crossed!). Talk to your ortho about it - but I think Tobilei is right - ...

Re: I cant commit to getting braced. :(

Hi Sunshine Ray! I can also completely relate - I spent years never smiling in pictures, never laughing out loud or hiding behind my hands. Friends used to also comment how I never smiled and looked annoyed in photos but I was so self conscious of people really seeing my teeth. I felt like when I sm...

Re: Price difference between regular braces and lingual

I was 100% sure that I was only getting linguals before my first consultation and was quoted €8,000 with 4 extractions. The second ortho said she could do my treatment without extractions but only using metal/ceramic braces and it would be €4,500. I went with the second ortho, more because of the ex...

Re: can anyone give me some encouragement?

Hi Oscar, I'm really sorry to hear that you're so disappointed. I'm not sure what kind of treatment you're having but 10 weeks is an incredibly quick time to move teeth - maybe your ortho was just being very optimistic? It's better that your teeth move safely rather than forcing them to move quickly...

Re: Can this really be fixed? How?

Hi Tin Tooth, My canine is really similar to yours but mine also protruded quite a bit. My ortho has now pushed back the canine into place but also pulled it down from the gum a little bit so that i can get the bottom levelled out - it wont be perfect and there will still be a gap but it wont be so ...

Re: What happens leading up to debanding?

Hi kreyFL, thanks so much for your response. From the way my ortho said it I thought it would be next appointment in 2 months, then boom - 2 months later they're off! But what you said makes much more sense with more regular adjustments and tweaking here and there. I'm sure it'll run over so I'm not...

Re: What happens leading up to debanding?

Thanks Bella - sorry to hear your debanding has been delayed! I'd say that'll happen with mine too...no point in panicking until closer anyway  There's no way I'm getting these things off until I'm completely happy...I guess I'm just hoping that I'm not going to have to point out a load of obv...
