Re: Smilehope's story

So it's 2 weeks since I had my braces off. Suddenly the 2 years seems like it went by in a flash. I'm really happy with the result. My teeth aren't perfect. I'm a little self-conscious of the black triangle between upper incisors, but everyone says they don't see it. My lower teeth midline remained ...

Re: 8 months and no change

Sorry to hear this. Eating and smiling do get easier. Are you sure there's no movement? Sounds like you should have a chat with your orthodontist, they may be able to say what they are expecting at his stage & if you are on track. Pictures will often help.

Re: Smilehope's story

Thanks, Anna. I never had a crossbite though, just complete overbite. Surgery was never mentioned.

Re: Smilehope's story

Well, it's been a looooong time since I came here! Feeling a bit lonely as I don't recognise many names on the site from when I started. 22.5 months later and I'm still here. BUT I know my braces are coming off in 35 days time. They're not perfect, I never really thought they would be, by my oh how ...

Re: Jem's belated story

I'm ok thanks, Jem. Bit of a slow phase but getting there. Have photos from last week which I'll try & post soon. Should be debraced by end of year - will you be sticking around to keep an eye on us?

Re: Jem's belated story

Looking good, Jem. I'm sure you'll be happy when they're off. I don't think anyone other than you will notice that little lateral - they'll just see that the teeth are lined up nicely.

Re: Skeptical

Hi Secarb. I had a bite plate for the first 6 months. The way it was explained to me it was keeping my bite open while my bottom teeth were brought forward. Now 15 months in my bite is getting better although I can only bite with my back teeth if I pull my lower jaw back. Still getting better all th...

Re: Journey begins! After 4 teeth out/braces same day... Day

Well done for getting started - your teeth are going to look fab. I'm over a year in and I hope only 6 months away from finishing. It's lovely when your teeth straighten out (or "unravel" as my ortho says!)

Re: Smilehope's story

The double elastics seem to be doing the trick. Although my ortho reckoned on my gaps closing at 1mm per month, they have already moved so I can't get my little finger in the gaps, even sideways. A bit of aching and creaking going on, but manageable.

Re: A true overbite?

Hi, carlarae, my problem was pretty much all overbite ("complete") with associated crowding. My initial papers said class II division 2 as well. My understanding is that the class II just refers to skeletal pattern - more prominent upper jaw relative to lower - not an abnormality as such. ...

Re: Smilehope's story

Had another appointment this week, my 9th I think. I wasn't sure if any movement but he seemed happy. I am now using double "red" elastics across the extraction sites. I also have a powerchain on my lower front 6. The powerchain isn't hurting at all, but my uppers ache today. I managed to ...

Hi Betsybug, I hope you're levelling out now. We were braced at the same time, but I've still got a way to go yet!

Re: Dunc's Dental Dialogue

Hi, Duncan - looking much straighter. You've even got the same black triangle as me! Can you feel the extra torque from the rectangular wires? I find different teeth ache on different days. I hope the elastics work their magic quickly for you.

Re: Smilehope's story

Thanks, Jem. One year feel significant, and I should be at least half way now. It feels as if the bulk of the work is done, although when I list what needs to be done it still seems like a lot! Close extraction gaps, sort bite, widen upper arch more, further straightening / gap reduction. Maybe I'll...
