Re: SmartTrack material sloughing off?
There is nothing to worry about, safety wise. Comfort wise, it is a little more of a problem. The flaking will likely go away as your bite corrects. Some people don't even get it so I think it is just related to the way your teeth hit.

Re: Invisalign & Braces: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, IMO
Great review! Just a note to the original poster...if your trays weren't fitting and you wore them religiously then your ortho was planning movements that were to big. Glad you got resolution at the end!

What the heck does he mean by mature jaw? That makes no sense to me.

Re: Help! Tough decision! Elastics Alf & Twinblock 12mm Over
I strongly suggest that you don't use elastics if you are even contemplating getting surgery. The idea is that the braces are supposed to get your teeth in the right position, which usually makes the overjet worse. Then from that ideal position, your jaws are put into the right place. If you use the...

Re: Braces to correct an open bite
Midline issues are always so noticable to the person who has the problem but are never noticable to anyone else. I didn't realize Tom Cruise had such a major midline issue until I was in braces myself. It is possible that your ortho can do a little IPR to fix the midline but you should decide if it ...

Re: Can I do it?
I've been following your blog and I understand that you would not want to go through all of it again. There is only so much anxiety a person should have to deal with. In hindsight, do you wish your boss hadn't agreed to take them off or are you thankful that you had your summer without them so you c...

Re: How big of a gap is still considered “good fit”?
I think that if the attachment is still engaged then it is ok. If the attachment is off, call your ortho. He will probably choose to move the attachment and continue on from there. You may still have the gap. That is my experience anyway.

Re: Can I do it?
If you are mainly just closing gaps and aligning the bite, would invisalign be an option for you at this point? This way you could give yourself very short temporary breaks when needed (i.e. take an hour off and then back in).

Re: Can I do it?
Wow...you are very lucky to have such a great boss! I'm glad you are feeling good about this braces break. Are you getting a retainer while you wait? It may be difficulty to put them back on after getting to live with braces teeth for a while but, if you can do it, it might be just what you need to ...

Re: Problems with Invisalign
The aligners move the teeth for the first few days and the roots for the rest, from my understanding. Patients are encouraged not to switch aligners too quickly so that there won't be any risk for the roots but I know some people do 10 days instead of 14 and don't have troubles.
Good luck!

Re: Aligned teeth but overjet
I can certainly understand not wanting to go the surgery route. The recovery for open heart surgery is apparently easier than that. I know many people are able to reduce overjet by at least half with elastics. You may not get down to no overjet but they should be able to improve it for sure. I say g...

Re: Invisalign in the UK / London?
Either that last poster is a Q clinic worker or one of the last happy clients before it all hit the fan at Q clinic. It is my understanding that Q clinic was blacklisted by Invisalign and that they stopped sending any more aligners to them until they receive payments (that the clinic has taken from ...
