Re: Loose teeth and debracing help!
It is the right third lower molar from the back. I have no idea what number it is or what it is called. The treatment of my lower teeth involved dragging my molars and canines forward to close a 6-8mm gap either side. It has taken well over 18 months of treatment for them to move as they were very s...

Loose teeth and debracing help!
Hi all Had fixed braces for just over two years now. Teeth are pretty much done and the braces will be coming off soon (yay). Here is my concern... One of my molars is very loose. It wibbles and wobbles quite a bit, even with the braces still on. Yes, loose teeth is normal in the early stages, I kno...

Re: Ceramic braces on top, metal on bottom. Is this the norm
My ortho rarely puts ceramics on teenagers because they're more inclined to break them but most of the adult patients opt to have ceramic uppers. He doesn't do ceramic lowers at all because of how easily they can be broken. Even if he did do it I am sure he wouldn't have recommended it for me given ...

Re: What was your deciding factor when choosing an orthodont
Location. Location, location, location. Small town, one practice. Closest alternatives were an hour away. I have neither the good health nor the money required to travel that far everytime I need a wire trim or anything like that. The practice I go to has been around for a couple of decades so if th...

Re: Brushing in Public Bathroom
Lots of times. I don't bother rushing unless there are lots of people who need to get to the sinks. It's an important task and I figure that there are worse things to be caught doing in a public bathroom. Most people don't even look at me but there have been a few who have stared as though it...

Re: 3 weeks with braces but i don't see a difference
Depends on how tough your bones are and if any of your teeth are loose already. It takes at least a month for bone to break down and teeth to move. I noticed a change in a few off my teeth very quickly because they were already a little loose from pressure from a bad bite.

Re: Avoiding Flossing
In my experience, no. I used them only for a time earlier this year and found that my gums became irritated after a few weeks as they usually do when I don't floss. So I went back to flossing every day and it all cleared up.Winkos wrote: Are those little brushes just as good as floss?

I can do mine in about five minutes with Oral-B superfloss. It just takes practice.

Re: Query- over brushing and gum recession
I had gum recession on my four lower front teeth from brushing too hard for years. I kept trying to brush gently but I would stop paying attention and brush much too hard. I broke the habit by switching to an electric toothbrush last year and letting the brush do the work. My gums are much healthier...

Re: Does everyone here have bands on their molars?
No molar bands here. I didn't even know they existed until well into my treatment. Still not sure what they are for. That's not really helpful is it?

Re: How long have your had your archwire in before changing?
My upper wire has been in since last august. The lower not as long, though I can't remember exactly when. My ortho can't change the wires until all the gaps close, which has finally happened. I hope to be in new wires and moving on to the alignment stage of treatment by the end of the month,

Re: Hot Chocolate
I drink hot chocolate all the time and it hasn't stained anything. I had the same powerchains on for months and they were almost the same colour when they came off as when they went on. Slight stains, but not enough to be noticeable and could have been done by many other things.

Re: Working immediately after getting braces
Everyone is different of course but for most the pain doesn't come until much later or the next day. I know that was the case with me. Take ibuprofen whether you're in pain yet or not, just in case so that you stay comfy.

Re: The waiting room
Always. I know there are other adults in town with braces and on occasion I have even had a rare sighting of one in the orthos office. But most of the time it's me in the waiting room with the parents all giving me funny looks and then pretending they weren't staring when I turn and look them in the...

Drenchers? I assume you mean dentures.
Why would your teeth fall out? Are you planning on not taking care of them once the braces come off? And even if they did 20 years is still a long time to have nice straight teeth for.
