I have an Essix and I felt almost the same as you the first few days. What I did was wear it as long as I could stand it (sometimes only 1/2 hour or so!) then take it out. I did wear it to sleep in because it didn't bother me then. Oddly enough, the time I could leave it in started getting longer an...

Yeah, the lovely gaps. At least I'm not adjusting to retainers times two! I guess that is a high point. Actually times three because I have a bonded one on the lower also. Serves me right though :D I heard someone was going to be debanded before me but when they weren't, I felt, um, victorious! Karm...

Essix = ouch?
I had my lower teeth debanded yesterday (supposed to be ALL teeth but apparently there was a gap in the upper so I get those off on the 12th). I have a bonded lower retainer plus an Essix. The Essix rubs a bit. There is nothing sharp but I think I'm adjusting to it because there are parts of the ins...

Almost done!!!
Hello all, I know I've been silent but life has been so crazy. I'm getting married in a month and we've been busy closing out my house and planning the ceremony. Anyway, I've had braces for about 15 months. I had my BSSO on 5/09. I went to my ortho appointment yesterday and he said we are done excep...

lindss20, I was back to normal as soon as the double bands were off. I think there was a period of adjustment to my new jaw but it was really minor. I also tended to bite my tongue a bit but it was just a matter of getting used to things. Really, everyone was amazed I sounded as good as I did! I wor...

Define normally :D I was double banded for two weeks after my BSSO and while I could be understood (so they say), talking was definitely awkward. I really didn't like talking to people who didn't know the whole story because I sounded like my jaw was closed which it mostly was. When I went to single...

Lig colors in pictures
I know, lig colors have been done to death!!! I am getting married in November and will still have my metal braces. I don't mind the metal OR the colors but heard a story about someone who had green ligs and it was mistaken for lettuce stuck in his teeth. I was thinking of matching my ligs to someth...

Thank you :D It's getting better and today I have not taken drugs. I think part of it was keeping my mouth open for hours (ortho to remove wire then dentist for cleaning then ortho then x-rays then new bands in the back) which is the most I've done since I've had the surgery. Having the bracket face...

oh. What is with the nausea anyway, is it just the constant pain that does it? I got the powerchain (and band) on yesterday and it hit about 5 hours later. It isn't like I have the stomach flu or anything, it's more like I don't want to eat or drink anything but water. If I take ibuprofen, my stomac...

I just learned about the powerchain! I was released back to go to the orthodontist after my surgery which was 5/09. My ortho had delayed on doing some of my back teeth due to the lack of space in my mouth but now he banded a 12 year molar which is facing the wrong way. The bracket is on the inner/ba...

Hi there :D My surgery was 5/09 and I had lower advancement only. I do a LOT of talking at work and I have to be easily understood because I'm talking on a radio to pilots and ground crew. I work ten hour days, also. I was given two weeks off work and I remember thinking there was no way I could eve...
