Re: anyone used an acceledent?

Thank you @djspeece for helping me point that out. The company has them designed to block reuse by orthodontists between patients and resale from patient to patient so these devices are like pre-paid cell phones. There are two time trackers inside. One registers a use after the device is on for 10 m...

Re: Adult Palatal expansion

Just as an FYI, the need for surgery also depends on the amount of orthopedic expansion required since the suture is only one of the resistant structures (though it is the primary one). In surgery, all of the sites of resistance are addressed to get the expansion to happen predictably. Even with fav...

Re: Adult Palatal expansion

Surgical expansion, whether it is a SARPE or with PAOO (wilckodontics), is a more predictable procedure when significant orthopedic expansion needs to be done, but palates can be expanded in adults and they have been doing this since the 50s. The Homeoblock people like to pretend like this is some s...

Re: anyone used an acceledent?

Having completed several hundred cases using Acceledent I can attest to its effectiveness. It does sound too good to be true, If you want to see a few treated cases, here is a fun video I put together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbmmhFMQl8s There have been a lot of questions raised in this foru...

Re: Really thin essix ?

I still have to get my braces off, and after seeing your post, freysmiles, I was wondering what type of changes to the occlusion can a thick Essix retainer produce? I'm wondering in these taking in count I might get my braces off soon. I hope this isn't considered as going off topic :? ^^ I'll try ...

Re: what happens at a pre op?!

I can't imagine your weight will slow down your op... Its just something the anesthetist has to consider when deciding on your dosages. As long as you are otherwise healthy, I don't see why it would be an issue. Can confirm. If your weight was going to be a problem for surgery, you'd already be awa...

Thanks :)
They are going to clear you for surgery and make sure you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure and make sure paperwork, etc. is squared away. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Need to transfer to Ortho in Scottsdale, AZ - with SureS

Hi all, I've just moved to Scottsdale, AZ, from the UK and I'm six months into my (3rd round) of braces so I wondered if anyone here had any recommendations for orthos in Scottsdale? I wanted to do SureSmile to shorten the time in braces, but never got scanned at my practice in the UK (apparently m...

Re: Intense Headaches from not wearing Retainer?

Can you get intense headaches from not wearing your retainer? Mine broke and I haven't wore it for about an entire week now. I woke up this morning with the worst headache I think I've ever had. It got a little better and I took some Advil too. It's still there though. It's very slight but it still...

Re: Really thin essix ?

Hey guys and gals, just wondering if anyone has ever felt their essix was really thin ? I compared mine to a friends and mine is extremely thin in comparison I'm starting to think maybe my ortho just went for the cheaper option? Frankly, Essix are cheaper in general, but are good retainers. The thi...

Re: Fastbraces

Hey guys new here :) Would love to hear more about fastbraces as I'm not sure if they are dodgy or not? I seen a local dentist advertising them claiming a lot cheaper than normal braces which makes me a little suspicious. I have a crossbite and am wanting to get maxillary advancement surgery and ne...

Re: Treatment keeps changing!

I'm set to get my Carriere Distalizers off in less than 2 weeks, at which time they'll scan me for my upper Invisalign aligners! I am so excited, and SO ready to get started with that. I didn't feel like my upper teeth were really moving that much, but I guess they've moved enough, so we're doing i...

Re: Fastbraces

Thanks for the information Dr. Frey. I don't think I want to do invisiline only because I'm afraid I might get lazy and not put them in like I'm supposed to. How do you feel about the dental clinics that have a separate orthodontist area within the clinic? I've visited one of those also so the orth...

Re: Fastbraces

I went for a consultation with him because I liked the idea that he would be able to do the braces and also the implant. It seemed like it would be a good idea at the time that he could do both. I've had consultations with Orthodontist as well. I'm just exploring my options. I will probably end up ...

Re: Intrusion archwire with loops. Anyone have or had one?

Totally not related to the topic, but welcome back here Dr Frey! Haven't seen you post in a while... I do notice you are from Allentown... if you follow local sports, I hope you are a Lehigh fan instead of one of those Lafayette heretics, or I may have to rescind my welcome. Go Engineers!
