Finally got braced

Got braced yesterday (at 32 years old) - full metal with a fake upper incisor attached to a bracket. I'm going to get an implant placed when the braces come off. The fake incisor is really annoying me...it's moving a lot on the wire (rotating). It's impossible to eat at the moment due to the pain an...

spacers

Had metal spacers placed yesterday. No pain at all! Apparently metal spacers suit adults more.

Re: need spacers

I've got some crowding & overjet. Metal bands need to be wrapped around my back teeth. The spacers need to be in for about a week to create space for the metal bands...i think.

need spacers

Just had my 2nd consult. Will be having spacers inserted in 2 weeks. From what I've read on here, spacers aren't much fun :(

2nd consult

My first consult was to check my general dental health and to determine suitability for braces. As a result of this I had a few wisdom teeth removed. I've got my 2nd consult tomorrow. Looking forward to it :)

Re: MOG - Melbourne Orthodntic Group

The initial consultation is free so best to go and ask about the price. I was quoted $7000 by jefflipshatz In the end I decided to go with a general dentist who had some experience doing ortho. My case requires a dental implant and ortho so its much easier for me to get all this done by a single per...

Re: Implant & Braces

Hi Happy Gappy, I was made aware of the fake-tooth-attached-to-braces possibility when enquiring about an implant. I was quoted $5500 for the ortho inclusive of the fake tooth so I don't think it cost any extra. I had my front top incisor extracted just before Christmas and I'm now wearing a tempora...

Re: Implant & Braces

Thanks for the info ashesgap. I've seen the ortho. He says the ortho treatment for my overjet is fairly straight forward. The root with the crown is infected and has split so that needs to come out. He'll try to leave half of the root in the bone if possible to minimise boneloss but it looks like I'...

Re: 32 in braces (UK) - my story so far

Hi there, I'm 32 also and I'm considering getting braces next year. Seeing a few orthos next week for initial consultations. My case is a bit complex also as I need to get an implant too. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only 32yo here. Good luck with your braces.

Implant & Braces

Hi all, I currently have a crown on my top centre incisor. The root upon which the crown is attached has developed a fracture and as a result, the crown frequently falls out and food gets trapped between the gums and the edge of the crown. This has caused bleeding and inflammation in the gums in tha...
