Re: Has anyone's face shape gone back to normal after braces removed?

I think it's pretty hard to blame sunken temples on braces...sounds like weight loss (coupled with bone structure). At a guess the loss of fat makes the crows feet worse, hence why some women have it injected. I didn't lose weight until after I'd been in braces some time (made some dietary decision...

Re: Has anyone's face shape gone back to normal after braces removed?

I now have sunken temples, sunken cheeks (masseter muscles), protruding cheekbones, crow feet (this one may or may not be braces related). It's tough for me to look at myself in the mirror.

I'm still in treatment and don't know when will it end.

I wish I never had braces.

Re: Loose Tooth

Hey, this is for BraceComfort and 3333 - I too have bone loss and go regularly to the perio and have a whole regimen as I'm sure we all do. I'm also reaching my last two months of my invisalign program. I switched trays today and the one tooth that is left to move has bone loss and is a little loos...

Re: Anyone with Invisalign for overjet/flaring?

I'm switching from ceramic/metal to Invisalign. My ortho, a premier provider, said my overjet and flaring could be corrected with invisalign, provided regular braces are used for a couple months at the very end to rotate a lower canine. As far as I know, my bite is okay. For those of you in the sam...

Can “overcorrected” overjet be fixed?

Anyone’s overjet was “overcorrected”? i.e. the teeth was brought from a flare out position to too far backward (past vertical).

Is there a way to bring them to vertical?

Any one had a gum graft in the middle of treatment

Did any of you need a gum graft in the middle of invisalign treatment? Did you have to leave the trays out for a few weeks? If so, likely your trays won’t fit by the time the graft is healed? I have one spot where the root is nearly poking through the gum and my ortho had to put the treatment on hold.

How big of a gap is still considered “good fit”?

If there is a gap between the biting edge of the teeth and the tray by the end of the 2nd week, how big of the gap is still considered a “good fit”?

I noticed there were gaps about 0.5mm which I don’t recall existed previously.

Thanks

Re: Hawley retainer adjustment

My ortho did the "tweak it and keep trying it" method, as I like to call it. Sometimes he made mine too tight, and I didn't notice it until I got home, and had to wait a few weeks to get an appointment to get it fixed. But eventually, I just had to get a completely new retainer because I ...

Hawley retainer adjustment

Let’s say your Hawley retainer needs an adjustment, how do you know if your ortho/dentist might over adjust/under adjust it? For example, if the measurement of an arch has increased after some bonding, how do they know how much to adjust? Just keep repeating the adjust then try on process until it “...

Pulling upper teeth down / lower teeth up. Recession?

For those of you who had certain of your upper teeth pulled down / lower teeth pulled up, did it give you recession? My ortho said it should not because the gum will go with it, but I'm not sure about that because I had recession when two of my upper teeth were pulled down (or maybe a little inward ...

Re: Were you charged extra for TAD?

The filing had to be done because the lower teeth were hitting the upper. So I didn't expect a functional adjustment would cost me extra.

They said the cost of the TAD alone is $300 already! Orthos are rich!

Were you charged extra for TAD?

They quoted me CAD $1000 per TAD but gave me an automatic 50% off. Still very expensive! They even wanted to charge me for "bite adjustment" which was really just some filing on the top edge of some lower teeth. IPR is teeth filing too, though done in between the teeth instead, and if ther...

Re: Black Triangles

30% or more of adult ortho patients end up with at least one black triangle. There are several factors that lead up to having them. The shape of your teeth play a large role but the other is the distance from the bone crest to the point where your teeth touch, known as a contact point. Adults also ...

Skipping one set of tray as per ortho

Hi, I was supposed to start one of my over correction trays (the ones with the + sign) tonight, but both upper and lower did not fit. I could not even force them in. They looked obviously smaller than the trays prior and after. Both my ortho and I agreed that they didn’t look right. So my ortho aske...
