Re: THEY ARE COMING OFF!!!

After 11 months in braces, they finally came off today! I still can not believe that my teeth look straight, my TMJ issues are gone, and i feel great. For anyone who is contemplating getting braced, i suggest that you do it, as the results can be amazing. I was 48 years old when I was braced. it's t...

Re: I just got my deband date :)

I too just got my deband date today! While i thought i would be thrilled, I am a bit anxious and nervous. Has anyone else experienced this before? Im 49 years old and have had my braces on for 11 months. My bite is the main reason for the braces, my teeth were the secondary reason. Now that i have a...

Re: rubber bands

I have had my braces on for 8 months. Yesterday was the first time that i have had elastics, and please someone tell me that it will get better! My lower jaw needs to move forward and my ortho has recommended the elastics for the next 2-4 months. It has been only 24 hours and i am so uncomfortable a...

Re: New in the adult braces club.

Welcome Ashka, i am 48 years old and have braces for the first time. My braces have been on for almost 5 months. I wish i had them put on when i was your age. I have not regretted my decision so far. My jaw problems and bite alignment issues were my primary reason for getting braces. My straight tee...

Re: archwires: how many levels of thickness have you gone th

I have had Damon braces on, for 4 months. The first wire i had was fairly light and flexible. The wire frequently came out of the last brackets on my back molars. i noticed a fair amount of movement with this thin wire, and was bothered with the wire coming out of the bracket. 5 days ago i went for ...

Re: Popped wire on last molar

like both of the previous posts, i too have a wire that pops out of the bracket, at least 4-5 times per week. Because there is such a large space between the two brackets, the wire tends to pop out when i eat something that sticks to the wire. My ortho showed me how to put the wire back into the bra...

Re: Start of my braces journey at 66

Marie, hang in there, it will get better. I have had my braces on for about 2.5 months now. I can now chew and eat just about everything, making sure to cut everything into small pieces, and being careful to eat slowly. when i first had my braces, i was convinced i would never eat in public and neve...

Re: Tips for eating with braces

to Prose, re: weight loss and braces. I am 48 years old and have had my braces on for about 2 months. I have lost 10 pounds in 2 months, with little to no effort. The change in my eating habits ( read as no snacking) has contributed to my weight loss. I find that snacking and then cleaning my teeth ...

Re: Super Double Duper Dry Mouth!!

Biotene makes an entire line of products to combat dry mouth. There is spray, toothpaste, mouthwash and gel. I use the gel and find it very helpful! I just put a small amount of the gel on my tongue and swish it around my mouth. I try to coat my braces and tongue with the gel. I find it really helps...

brace strips? has anyone used them? reviews?

has anyone used the adhesive brace strips that are available? i have had braces for about 2 months now and am getting tired of the canker sores, wax and general inconvenience of it all. I have seen the adhesive strips on-line and wondered if anyone has used them and if they work?

Re: Archwire popped out of my bracket

I have damon speed braces and have had them on for about 2 months now. During the first week, several brackets popped off and the arch wire came out of the bracket on my back molar. The brackets that came off were on my molars and were attached to the tooth at a funny angle, since the molar is angle...

Re: Braces as treatment for TMJ?

I too am wearing braces for the first time, to treat my TMJ ( along with a host of other jaw related issues). I have been braced for 6 weeks. I have noticed an improvement in the tension in my jaw and neck, and my range of motion in my neck has increased significantly. The muscle spasms in my jaw an...

Re: Tips for eating with braces

After almost 6 weeks in braces, this is what i have learned to eat / tolerate: mashed potatoes with lots of gravy, perogies, anything in my slow cooker, scrambled eggs, really the usual food that anyone with braces can tolerate. However. last night, for the first time since getting braced, i ate a t...

Re: Damon braces v Ceramic braces

I too, have Damon braces, and have had them for about 6 weeks. I agree that they do widen the arch, which is exactly what I need. My upper teeth tilt inwards, and i have noticed a significant change in my smile and teeth positioning. My smile is wider and my teeth are moving a lot. It does feel a bi...
