Re: Update: Bite plate gone- ortho visit gone wrong!!

Hi workingmomma, yes, I have (had) an overjet of 8-9mm and I also have overbite, which the bite plate corrected, well made big improvements. Eating was difficult and some days the annoyance and aggravation of cleaning the food out from it was too much and I would just have a drink instead :) Good lu...

Update: Bite plate gone- ortho visit gone wrong!!

I am 4 1/2 months into treatment and yesterday I went in for a routine visit, but with the need for a new set of molds being made. My appointment lasted 90 minutes!! And it was hell (pardon my language). So I go in and first pictures are taken, I thought 'Ok', and then x-rays were taken, hmmm....Thi...

Re: Overbite with overjet? Advice needed.

I have same problem, deep overbite and overjet (8mm), my bite was really off. I have always been told to get braces. So finally at 39 I took the plunge. The ortho said surgery for lower jaw was needed to truly correct the overbite, but I could be treated with good results with out it. I chose no sur...

Re: Bite plane in - aaarrrgghh!!!

Hi Sibillia, I responded to your PM, I hope you got it. I forgot to add that the ortho gave me elastics today, on top of everything else! So my mouth is very crowded right now. One thing I can say for the bite plane is that it is working- my molars are definitely touching now- and when I first got t...

First major appoint sinced braced

Ok, So I was braced in Aug and also a bite plane. On my upper teeth, my last two molars were not braced, and on my lower teeth, my last lower molar on one side wasn't braced. I have had one adjustment- the lower wire was changed, a heat-activated 15 was put in. That was in Sept. From Aug to Sept I n...

Re: A newly minted braced 30yr old

Congrats!!! I think it is so funny that many of us thought we were too old when were in our early twenties- LOL- and now look at us, in our 30's and braced! Wisdom definitely comes with age 8) So no pain? I say lucky you. I have pain in my lower jaw- 3 of my teeth hurt, off and on, right now on and ...

Re: 34 and eating like a 1 year old...

Your post made me laugh, I was joking that I eat like baby!! I am just over a month in and I thought I was over that phase but about 2 days ago my bottom molars started hurting again and sadly, back to mushy food :( I can understand you story- my mom never believed in braces, either, and I have an 8...

Re: anyone else's ears pop?

When I got my bite plate I spent two full weeks with a completely plugged ear- only 1, not both. It was annoying- like when you have a really bad headcold. And I do mean completely plugged, couldn't hear a thing. It finally passed- what a relief. Also, at the same time, my TMJ was getting much bette...

Re: Braces & Migraines

I have had migraines for 20 years now and a neurologist is why I got braces- they are finding a link between bites that are off- especially those with small jaws - and migraines. I have a very small jaw and my bite is really off. Dr said braces could help, once bite is fixed, then bones are situated...

Re: Braces at (almost) 49

Congrats on improving your smile and self-confidence! I know what you mean when you say you were emotionally invested. In my ortho's office, the treatment is open and all the patients are worked on in sight of each other. I was embarrassed at first because all the other patients were children and I ...
