Re: A scared newbie
i say bite the bullet while you're still young man. I waited until 28 to do something and knew right away i should have gotten it started (and over with) years earlier. There's no time like the present after all! Think it through, read some more stories, view some pics, and hope that helps you make ...

Re: Viking's story (asymetric lower jaw and crowded teeth)
Completely agree with Starfish here, you'll see the wire shift before you notice significant movement of your teeth. The first month or so your mouth is still getting used to the new tension that has been created. After that you'll be surprised how fast everything will fall in line. By month 3 and 4...

Re: How many hooks do you have?
That does seem like alot of hooks but this is coming from someone who only has 4 total. Im a damon wearer also but the hooks on mine are the second from last (2nd premolar?) on both top and bottom. I just got the lowers on last week and thankfully havent had to use any of my hooks quite yet

Re: Tooth WONT move
I feel your pain too! Ive had my tops on for six months now and have noticed alot of the major movement stopped at around the three or four month mark. I know stuff is shifting around but it seems to be going awfully slow these days. I think its hard to notice tiny movements, especially in certain d...

Re: shaving/filing teeth?
I guess each practice/ortho must have their own opionion on when its necessary to do this. I always figured if your going to be shaving teeth down a bit it should be done near or at the end of treatment when all your teeth are in their ideal positions. Last adjustment i had the main ortho told the t...

Re: WOW!
Wow! That is some great progress in just a few short months! Im wondering if im seeing something right though, do you have ligs on your damon braces? Im thinking of asking my orthodontist to do this mostly just to add color as im getting tired of seeing a bunch of metal when i open my mouth. Unless ...

Re: How often are your archwires changed w/Selfligating brac
I guess it really will vary from person to person and their individual case. Since getting mine on in early August I've had 2 adjustments and each time im pretty sure i got a new wire. I started with a 13 then went for a 14 and last adjustment (two weeks ago) i heard something about an 18. Maybe the...

Re: microbrew's braces journal
Darn i just broke a bracket! Exactly two days after my first adjustment the same tooth that didnt wanna hold a bracket when i first got my braces fell off(again). Okay, so i was eating a snickers ice cream bar; sue me, i had a craving. Something tells me it wasnt completely my fault though(or the ic...

Re: First day post braces - please tell me it gets better!
Kitsune, I had the same exact thoughts when i first got my braces put on. The first few days i thought "why the hell did i do this?". The regret went away within a couple of days and so did the pain and soreness(minus my cut up lips haha). After a few weeks i stopped noticing they were eve...

Re: microbrew's braces journal
Thanks for your responses! Sorry to reply weeks later, just have been a busy beaver lately. Im surprised and in shock that a whole month has gone by since getting braced. It feels more like a couple of weeks than a month which is pretty awesome. Its weird cause some days are fine and others i feel t...
