Re: Braces removal- what can I expect?
I broke one of my ceramic brackets and so my ortho remove it, it seemed to take ages and really hurt, I am now dreading having them all took off in one go. Just take painkillers and hope for the best. Sorry for putting a downer on it, just think the day after no more braces!!!!

Re: Just Got My Braces
I know, I know the pain is terrible. But the pain means your teeth are moving...right? It does go away after a few days, but how much mashed potato and fish can someone take!!! I've just had elastics and powerchains put on and thought I would never be able to eat again, but after 5 days I'm back to ...

Good grief I am eating these babies like candy. I feel them pop and before you know it I've swallowed the damned thing. Good job my ortho gave me loads of packets!!!

Re: how long do you brush your teeth?
Oh my, I brush mine for about 10 minutes!!! I have an electric brush which buzzes every 30 seconds, so I do small sections at a time, then move onto a small interdental brush and do inbetween again for maybe 4 minutes. I am totally obsessed, mind you some of the things that fall out of my teeth make...

Re: new to braces and first movement noticed!!
Mine too!! My bottom set looks just like yours. I have a 'middle' tooth that is set back, but within 3 weeks that tooth popped forward and is now inline. It is just amazing how quickly things happen. The molars, I'm just hoping they will move back, seems bizarre that the brackets aren't put on the l...

Re: 47 years old, and finally took the plunge! NEED
It really is only for the 1st few days after adjustments. Although toffees, candy, raw veg, apples etc I still haven't dared eat. The very first thing I will eat once getting debraced will be a raw carrot. You'll soon adjust and find out what is easy for you. I eat steak and chops fine, just need to...

Re: Wire around Bracket
Thanks for that. Thinking about it I have heard of wire ties. My ortho is so busy, I never get chance to speak to him, he scoots up, puts his hand in my mouth and before I have chance to say anything, he's off seeing another patient!

Wire around Bracket
Hi, I've just returned from my 2nd adjustment, and noticed the ortho has put wire around one of the brackets (on the tooth next to an extraction) rather than a normal ligature. Has anyone else had this done and why? It looks just like wire and is twisted together

Re: Considering Braces
Hi there I feel your pain, I really didn't want braces and looked at Invisalign and lingual. I wasn't suitable for Invisalign and the lingual ones were sooo expensive. I have ceramics and love them, I almost wished I'd gone for retro metal. I smile loads more to show them off, I feel more confident ...

Re: Going in for first adjustment today!
I had my first adjustment yesterday. They put a thicker wire on which I think is loads more noticable but probably isn't. The pain is back, which I think is good, it means they're moving!!!

Re: Newbie Eating with Ceramics - HELP.
If they stain and you have a special occasion coming up your ortho with probably change them for you, mine does no problem. You will have plenty of oh no moments, when you eat something and come away with bright yellow ligs. But there is only you that sees them, no-one has ever commented on how gros...

Re: Is it normal to have duck lips??
I've had my braces on for 8 weeks and my lips still don't really know how to handle them. MY husband keeps thinking I'm smiling all the time, but really my lips are just caught on my braces!!!

Re: Had braces fitted today
Ha Ha, yep the pain has started, I've been managing on Soup and mashed potato, but brushing my teeth is an ordeal. But at least the pain means its working, right? Just hope they settle down quicker than when I had the clamps on my back teeth put on. I am so giddy about finally getting straight teeth...
