thank you! The first tip works well for my top retainer and the "zip" idea works best for the bottom. It is the molars that stand alone that really seem to hold the suction and make it difficult to remove. I don't love these things, after two years of braces...no complaining here.

Totally normal....Don't worry! The source of the pain is the movement of the teeth and it will eventually go away. It means things are moving, which is good!

Sometimes plaque build up on the brackets keep the ligs from being secure on the bracket causing them to come off during brushing or eating. You could mention it at your next appt and the dental tech can do some scraping. This happened to me a couple of times....on the bottom brackets.

Thanks for the input. I have stopped the elastics and the "clunking", "snapping" has lessened but not disappeared. I also have an appt this Tues and will certainly let my concerns be known. Will post results.
