Re: Any facial changes with your braces?

They've filled out a little more now, but the biggest change is in my upper bite - my forward molars are getting pushed out towards my cheeks because my arch was actually concave on the sides rather than convex! (I know that made almost no sense, but my arch looked like this: _ _ / \ rather than ( ...

Was it "Crozat"?

Re: Do assistants apply brackets and appliances?

In general, in the UK the orthodontist does all the work except pulling teeth! I would be a bit worried if I had a young trainee person doing all the handy work when I was spending £2700 for the orthodontist's expertise. Then again, it's such a long process I'm sure it's more important that the ort...

Re: First consultation tomorrow

Re: Anyone experienced reversing extraction treatment?

"Retreatment" itself may not be what the ortho's aren't thrilled with. Plenty of people on this board on doing a 2nd round of braces (I am); it's not at all unusual. It may be that they believe doing what you want (and I have no idea what you are looking to have done) may produce an unsta...

Re: Anyone experienced reversing extraction treatment?

Anyway, I believe my dentist said if I wanted to reverse it in the future it would be really challenging and might require me getting implants to replace the extracted teeth and using an expander to widen out my arches. Yeah, that's basically what the OP is going to have to do. Thanks for the info,...

Re: Anyone experienced reversing extraction treatment?

If you search for "reverse extractions" and "undoing extraction orthodontics" some older posts will come up. You can try "ALF appliance," too.

@Leilo0, did she mean don't try to reverse your extraction treatment or not have extractions?

Re: ALF Appliance - is anyone having treatment using this ?

Thanks for sharing your experience, karl66. I don't know what your original skeletal or dental situation was, but it makes sense that your health would improve if your airway is improved and your bite is corrected so that the muscles aren't overworked. Wow, a lot of positive stories from Ireland. It...

Thanks! Your answers are really appreciated.

Is your appliance bonded or is it removable? I have heard of both.

Re: ALF Appliance - is anyone having treatment using this ?

Eurodude or Tracey, did you notice widening of your nose since it's expanding along the suture? In my case, I wouldn't mind forward movement since it looks moved back with previous extraction treatment, but am a little concerned retreatment could widen the nose too much. Why did you choose to go wit...

There's a Marketwatch article "Ten most overpaid jobs in the U.S." that talks about orthodontists at #4. I can't post links yet.

thenumber12: Have you met with orthodontists who said they could open up the extraction spaces?

CLB26: Did you use only braces to try to open the space or did you have an appliance, too?

Re: ALF Appliance - is anyone having treatment using this ?

Hi, Eurodude, Tracey, Elaine,

How much does your ALF treatment cost or what were you quoted?

I also want to undo extraction treatment. Does the ALF just widen from the middle or can it move the front teeth forward, too?
