Re: 1 year since debonding, black triangles...
Thanks for your responce, mapleleafman888. The things you've mentioned may, in theory, cause black triangles. I made adjustments to my brushing right after braces were off to brush much more lightly, I even use the kids toothbrush which is supposed to be softer. After 3 months, my brushes still look...

Re: Can't get used to Essix retainers - Help!
Why do you wear them during the day? Mine are nighttime only. Ask your ortho if wearing them at night only would work...

1 year since debonding, black triangles...
I am currently 32 years old, got debonded in April 2013, after 21 months in braces. About 6 months ago (~10 months after debonding), tiny black triangles started appearing in between my front lower and upper teeth. I have been keeping an eye on them, and I notice they gradually become bigger. They a...

Re: Poor Bite
Wow. Guys, thanks for sharing. I feel less pity for myself, because honestly, my bite does not feel as bad as you describe yours is. I can chew more or less comfortably, not ideal but livable. Or maybe I have just used to it?
Anyhow, I wish things get brighter for you. I feel your pain!

Re: If u r Not happy: Would you change your Ortho ?
Noni do you know how long has your ortho been in business? I am asking because my ortho may also seem rush (I think most of them are - this is just the way they do it) and I am not always happy with what he says, but deep down I know he's probably right. He has been practicing for 30 years though. S...

Re: Lower midline is slightly off & causing my bite to be of
Well, it is my understanding that the movement that is possible with elastics will always be relative, the upper teeth move one direction and the lower - another. That is because it attaches to the teeth only. However, with the class II elastics upper arch moves more that is why I am thinking he did...

Re: Lower midline is slightly off & causing my bite to be of
This elastics seems to close the bite and move your upper teeth a little back compared to the lower teeth (reciprocal movement: uppers - backwards, lowers - forward). Is it on the right side only? On your last pic, are you biting down all the way? I'd say, give it a chance. Maybe it will work. If no...

Re: Poor Bite
JillD you will get used to it (I know I did  ). I don't eat meat (vegetarian) but I do eat nuts, and caramel, and pickles and everything else (besides the whole apples). Cutting meat into the bite sized pieces should help. Also if iron is of concern, use iron supplements. Of course food is alwa...

Re: Is your ortho at your dentist?
Your orthodontist will write a letter to your dentist, explaining what needs to be done. Don't worry, this is very routine.

Re: Lower midline is slightly off & causing my bite to be of
I don't want to go in there saying my bite isn't right because of the position of the right molars etc because I don't want to sound like I am telling him his job and feel silly, also his first language is not english so I feel sometimes this can make things a bit difficult getting him to understan...

Re: Lower midline is slightly off & causing my bite to be of
From the pictures in the first post, you have a class II bite on the right side. That is also why your midline is off. On your left side, is your upper canine not lined up with the teeth? I cannot quite see from the picture. I am not sure but according to my understanding, you need to wear a class I...

Re: Is your ortho at your dentist?
Mine are two different entities. My ortho does not work specifically with any dentist, and he told me it does not matter for him who my dentist is. If you are not happy, ALWAYS get a 2nd opinion. This is your money, your mouth, your time, your life - don't trust it to someone you are not comfortable...

Re: Impressions
Do you have your upper and lower teeth braced? I started with the uppers only and had the lowers done 3 months later. They took impressions for that. Or else, like others have said, some sort of appliance such as a bite plate.

I do. And I think it is normal. I would let them know that's how you feel, and they should understand.

No pain - no gain...
Just had my tooth pulled yesterday. Actually, not a tooth but an infected, diseased root that was left of one of my upper premolars. Having been in the post-op phase, I can't help but notice how minimal the pain and tenderness is. I am taking 2-3 advils and it almost completely takes care of the pai...
