Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Lucia-I love Cracker Barrel! My husband had never been before we were married and I had to introduce him to biscuits n gravy, haha! Glad to hear you were promoted to soft foods, I have three more weeks before I get the ok. Anna-I think your bite will be fine once your orthodontist gets ahold of you....

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Hi all! Day 10 post op here. Had another follow up with my surgeon. Things are looking good so far. I go back in two weeks. I never took anything other than ibuprofen. The pain, for me, is minimal. But, I'm also older than some of you (35) and I've gone through other painful things which puts it all...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 5 post op here, IVRO. IVRO seems like such a more barbaric way to correct and underbite, but, I chose this way. My concern was permanent paresthesia. So far, I'm still numb on the lower left side. Like w0nnie, it feels as if ants are marching across my lips. My surgeon says it's due to the swell...

Re: Question about breathing and swelling
I'm tightly wired shut, day two post op with an IVRO. Its amazing how you can find air. I have a full mouth splint wired in there too. Fortunately for me, my allergist loaded me up with two nasal steroids to keep my nose clear and I have two cool must humidifiers in my room. In the hospital, they ha...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Hi all, posting my recovery experience: I went in on Monday for an IVRO. The surgery took about three hours and went fairly well. I returned home from the hospital yesterday and feel ok. The worst part for me, right now (it's Wednesday), is the neck and shoulder aches and this splint they have wired...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Wishing everyone well with their past/upcoming surgeries. I am not sure about everyone else, but, it's comforting to hear stories- good and bad! :) Thanks for posting! I have my final labs tomorrow, already had the final work up. I am having an IVRO done on July 25, completely wired shut for 8 weeks...

w0nnie, good luck! I have a physical list too, otherwise, I'd forget everything in the chaos of the appointment. You are only four days ahead of me with your surgery! Misery loves company

Best protein powder
I am needing some advice on the best protein supplement out there. I'm not trying to bulk up while wired shut for 8 weeks. I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. I could use something that's lower in sugar and fat, preferably. Any advice on what's the best tasting and easiest to add to my blended creations? :) ...

July 2011 Buddies?
Am I the only lucky one? :? July 25th here, counting down the days. I'm trying to start putting a list together on what I need to buy before surgery. This next week is my only slow week until all of my appointments start rolling in. My OS office told me I should use a sippy cup instead of a syringe....

Re: Looking for advice on my Jaw Surgery Procedure
Daniel, I'm in Northern Virginia. I was approved and my OS office has become the "funnel" for all Class 3 procedures in the northern va/dc area. They sent everything in for me, all I had to do was wait. Most offices in the area have moved away from doing these types of procedures because t...

Re: Introduction
Beowulf68- OK, yes I have a full mouth of braces, so no archbar for me. I was wondering why he hadn't mentioned anything and when I tried to google it, it wasn't giving me a clear picture of what it actually was. Thanks for the clarification.

Introduction
Hi! I am quickly approaching a surgery date of July 25, 2011. I am scheduled for an IVRO (intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy). I am one of the "lucky" ones that just needs my jaw moved backwards. All of my pre-surgical appointments are scheduled and now I am just waiting. I'm one of the ol...
