Re: Is it normal for my mouth to be so DRY?
Get Biotene mouthwash. It's available online or usually at Target and drugstores. It's mouthwash for dry mouth that doesn't have alcohol (if I remember correctly) and has bioenzymes that help increase saliva in your mouth. Saliva is what helps keep plaque growth down so if you have dry mouth, you co...

Re: Is this normal or strange behavior for an orthodontist?
I just want to say that old age doesn't mean he can't be a pervert. Lots of perverts are old men. Only recently a string of old college professors and even the president of New Mexico college were arrested for their involvement in an online prostitution ring. See the story below. http://www.cbsnews....

Re: Is this normal or strange behavior for an orthodontist?
Whoah HUGE red flags! This guy is a pervert! There's no need to ask for your cell phone number if he's supposed to be talking with your parents and the contact info should already be on file. Also, no need to wipe his hand on your chest. This is VERY unprofessional. I've had both male and female den...

Re: Looking For Orthodontist to Continue Treatment
There are some who can work with using the old brackets if you look. It really depends on what stage of of treatment she's in or is behind in though. Some can work with old brackets but can't guarantee the best result and if you can live with that, then go for it. I consulted several other orthodont...

Re: wax question
You're paying a lot for braces, so I advise getting it from your doctor so you're not spending more than you need to because it's included in your treatment. Ask for several or ask for one everytime you have a check-up even if you haven't run out. Some places are stingy and only give you one (like t...

Re: I need extractions and I have a question...
It sounds like your doctor is just being cautious to make sure that you really do need the extractions, which is a good thing. It also may be because he needs to make sure he has enough space to wiggle the teeth out. I would double-check about the "crowding" opinion though. Mine said the s...

Re: New guy! 30/M Getting braces for the first time
I got my braces at 30, too. Good choice with the dental school. I wish I had thought of that. I think the professors will provide some good supervisory experience and you'll probably get more attention due to the training purposes than you would normally at a private practice. I wouldn't worry about...

Re: does positioning of rubber bands matter?
This position that your doctor has told you to use with the rubberbands is the position for moving your upper teeth outward (like an overbite) so that your bottom teeth fit inside and under your upper. It's supposed to be a slight overbite for an ideal bite but not one where it's more than a few mil...

Re: all spaces are almost closed, but am getting worried
I don't think they recommend pulling teeth back too far but it seems like you need to explain your intentions to your doctor before these gaps close or else it will be harder to pull them back. It depends on where these gaps are. Having to shift a lot of teeth back takes more time versus only a few.

Re: All adjustments from the right?
Any dentists or dental assistants reading this forum, I really hope you take notice and keep this left/right issue in mind everytime you do work. I have noticed the same effect with my braces. First off, my teeth were not that bad to begin with a small gap in the front, some flaring of the teeth but...
