Re: Consultation Fees Normal?
It would be highly unusual for a surgeon's office to quote even a ballpark figure over the phone, in fact, I've never known of anyone who received this. Consult fees are often paid for by health insurance if that is an option for you. Some surgeons may do "paper reviews" which is when they...

Re: Braces off next visit but gaps appearing?
No, this should not be happening toward the end of treatment. You mentioned reangling canine, did the gaps begin to open after this?

Implant Cost
Mine was 3K. Costs are exhorbitant, wide range in costs 2500-5000 per tooth. Average in large city seems to be about 3K, depending on where you live, the cost you were quoted seems to be in high range but not so unusual unfortunately.

If you have a covered diagnosis, this type of surgery would be under health insurance.

Equilibration - Anyone Heard Of This???
This procedure is being recommended by surgeon-post-surgery. As I understand it it includes filing down surfaces of teeth so that occlusion is better. Anyone have any experience with this?? Coonsidering see Dr. Mcclendon (Dr Mac)n NYC for this.

It was amazing how much pain having the bite off just a little bit could cause. Better so far thankfully.

Re: IN PAIN - 10 Months After Implant
Update to this topic- after several days of pain, I got in to see the dentist and he ground down the surface of the crown and the molar above it so the bite would fit better when I chew. It has made a huge difference. Occasionally, still get the pain when I am chewing something very "chewy"...

Re: 1980s attitudes about retention
Relapse is a nasty, little secret that few providers talked about in years past and still far too little today IMHO. The truth is teeth/gums continue to change throughout life. They are living tissue. Retention is for life. And there may be changes that have to be made to that retention as people ge...

Re: Your bite.... the best form of retention?!
I have read about the various pros/cons of each type of retainer. Anything that allows your teeth to be in contact, such as the Hawly, would have an advantage in this regard. The bite is the best retention and for this teeth need to touch teeth.

Lower jaw advancement increases your airway so it normally improves your breathing.

IN PAIN - 10 Months After Implant
In March of last year I had an implant placed on a lower molar which I posted about. It never felt 100% but I was OK with it. Once in a while I would have a tinge of pain if I bit down a certain way. The last couple of days I have been having pain which is increasing and I am having a hard time chew...

Re: GAP - Between Crown and Gumline
Just wanted to give an update on this. I still have the crown attached with the "temporary" cement and it has not moved. The dentist grinded down some of crown and the inside part and the food is not getting caught in the space so much. I had a cleaning recently and there did not appear to...
