Re: Getting Braces in Mexico - Save $$$

I LOVE my ortho and yes, I cross the border to Mexico to get to him :D He speaks English well, has many international patients, costs less than 1/2 the cost of what USC quoted ($7000! >_<), does one-on-one adjustments, and available on Facebook for any and all questions/emergencies, super accommodat...

Re: Ceramic vs. Metal on upper arch - is it really worth it?

At my consultation, I asked my ortho if I could get anything but metal. He responded by telling me that metal is traditional but the best. Mind you I am a complicated case and he is 50+ years old. But I trusted his judgement and haven't regretted a single thing going metal. I actually prefer it sinc...

Panoramic x-ray, $24 :D

Ortho needed it to plan the detail work. Still in elastics. Supposedly midline is perfect but I don't think so . . .

Re: The over 2 years club - who's a member?

You are not alone!
I will have been in braces for 2 years this May and depending on how treatment goes, could be getting them off in December. But if I have to, I will keep them in longer for as near to perfect results as possible :P

Re: How quickly did your elastics work?

Had the crossbite ones on both sides FOREVER it seems, definitely at least 9 months before my orthodox switched to closing the extraction gaps with elastics. Had those babies on and saw movement right away but I don't think I get to stop using elastics anytime soon, cus my midlines are way off -_-;;

Re: Number of adjustments in total?

Been at least 6 months since I last got my wire changed because my ortho has been focused on fixing my crossbite and closing the extraction gaps since my arches are looking good. He always changes the powerchains and checks my bite. Then he sends me off with elastics and their instructions. He also ...

Re: Number of adjustments in total?

Many factors in determining adjustment periods on a case-by-case basis: severity of case, pace of teeth movement, age, etc. I started treatment with 6 week visits but then I got extractions which helped my teeth to move faster, and now I see my orthodontist every 4 weeks. This month, I am have adjus...
