I hope you find, as I did, for this to be one of the best decisions you have ever made!

I got my braces at 55yr. I am 62 now and even though it was awkward having braces at 55yr, it was still the best adult decision I ever made. I want to encourage you newbies and older adults thinking about getting braces--IT IS NEVER TOO LATE!!

Life is amazing with straight, white teeth! People even notice and comment--"you have a nice smile" etc. I love it and it was worth every day of the 2 years I was in braces starting at age 55!

The Forsus appliance...horrible...

I had the Forsus...it's really uncomfortable getting food stuck where you can't get to it without putting your finger in your mouth...which is weird when your eating in a restaurant. Keep up all the good work everyone!!! Still can't convey enough how worth it is to go thru all the crap associated with having braces!!!! Worth every minute and every penny!!

I also had a 10mm overjet. My overjet was corrected without surgery. The ortho used a Forsus appliance which looks worse than it is (mine had a lot of mechanical issues which made it hard to have, but other than that it wasnt so bad). The cleaning process is always going to be a pain in the ass.....once you figure it out, it will just be the time it takes that is the most annoying. They are a pain in the ass...but you will get used to them...you still may not like them but it gets better...After a while you will be able to take care of them like its old hat. It will probably always be a countdown but you WILL get there!
