Re: How many aligners would have been too many for you
I've lost count of the number of trays I'm needing. Last month I hit the 4 year mark. 4 years and I'm still waiting for a 2nd round of refinements. Needless to say the changes have been amazing, my mouth was a total disaster and now looks great. Have they been too much? It's been a long journey, but...

Re: How long before you started seeing movement?
It took some time for my front teeth to move. They were heavily crowded and the ortho had to move my back teeth first to make some room.

Re: Taking meds with invisalign?
I was advised to take the trays out, take my medication (asthma inhaler) and rinse well afterwards.

Re: How often do you interact with your orthodontist?
I go every 4 weeks. The ortho checks everything is on schedule and if some work is needed, does it herself.

I really miss biting an apple! I must cut it into small pieces first.

Re: Bad breath + going on a night out with Invisalign
I clean my trays 3 times a day, every time I take them out to eat. I let them soak in Steradent (or similar) in the morning while I have breakfast and the other 2 times I soak them in dishwasher. Then, I brush them well with a soft brush before putting them back in. No problem so far with odor or st...

No idea why either, but my lips are super dry unless I use lip balm constantly.

Re: What was your first meal/food after braces?
Lasagna. Eating it wasn't difficult... the problem was removing the Invisalign trays for the 1st time. After a 20 min struggle I thought I was trapped and doomed to an only-water diet

Congratulations!
That wait is the worst, it seems like the day you finally get your trays never arrive

Go for it Pati527!
You're NEVER to old to treat yourself with anything that makes you feel better about yourself. Pity your family don't understand it, but just go ahead and do it. You'll find lots of support here.

Re: Odd question about hard water and aligners
Hi, Ithurtstosmile! I was told that each aligner is used for only two weeks and this should mean that even the hardest of water won't have time to affect them, as long as I follow the usual routine of soaking them while I eat and then clean and rinse them before put them again in my mouth. Well, we ...

It's never too late!
I'm 38 and hopefully my trays will be here anytime soon next month. My ortho is great and very experienced with Invisalign, but I'm not sure you'd want to come to Europe once a month for your adjustments
Best of luck with your treatment, it's totally worth it!

Re: Just got my impressions this week
Hi!
I still don't know how many trays my teeth will need to look decent, but I'm afraid my sentence will be long.
These last weeks of freedom I'm eating like a madwoman all the things that I know I'll have to stay away from once the trays arrive
