Re: January 2012 Buddies!
Hey everyone! Sorry I didn't check in sooner. I'm 8 dasy post-op now, about to go to my first post surgical appointment. I'm anxious to find out how I'm progressing and if there's anything I can start doing differently (exercises, brushing, etc). The first 4 days post-op were utter hell but I got th...

Thanks for your input! I actually already saw your blog, on jawsurgeryblog.com. I don't have a blog of my own. Good luck with your surgery and I will definitely be thinking of you and following your recovery.

Re: Should I have genio as well? (pics)
Update, y'all. I've decided not to go for a genio. Well, 99% sure. I realized that the computer prediction of what I'll look like without the genio doesn't account for the chin bone that I have buried in there somewhere (it comes out when I smile- photo attached as proof!). I feel like the maxillary...

Mine only hurt for a few days after an adjustment... but then there's another round of pain 2 or 3 weeks later! Anyone else get that?

Re: Surgery recovery and KISSING
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am not looking forward to this aspect of healing (extended periods of numbness) but I still think it will still be worth it.

Re: My Open Bite (PICS)
I agree that it's doesn't look bad at all. I have an open bite too and at this point it's probably only a bit worse than yours (before braces I could fit a pencil in my open bite, because the top front teeth stuck out a lot and the bottom ones were crowded back). But I also have other "symptoms...

Surgery recovery and KISSING
This might be silly... and obviously is not my primary concern when it comes to surgery and recovery... but anyway. For those of you who have had surgery and are in a relationship, did you find that the post-surgery numbness and stiffness made it harder or less enjoyable while making out with your p...

My ortho and dentist are both female. Bonus: they both had braces in their 20s.

Re: Jaw Surgery in Canada
Hi again, I don't think I know any immigrants or foreign workers well enough to know anything about their insurance situation.. sorry! My surgeon did a 2D digital imaging free for me, he has 3D ones but I think they cost more money. I'm not sure what you're talking about re: "waiting." My ...

Re: Jaw Surgery in Canada
Hi Armack. I can only answer part of your question- if you are covered by government medicare, then your hospital stay, anasthesia, etc. will be covered. You will just have to pay a surgeon's fee. My surgeon is Dr. Chehade (I haven't had the surgery yet but he seems pretty well regarded and experien...

Re: 3 and 4 mth update
You look amazing! I've been following your story somewhat, and I just want to say that you look gorgeous and happy! You were beautiful before, but now even more so; your face looks more balanced. And the swelling has gone down so much. I hope I have results as wonderful as yours (surgery projected f...
