Re: Newbie

Question please:-

One of my ligatures has come off this morning when I was cleaning my teeth. I was only at the ortho on Tuesday does anyone know whether I need to get another put on or can I leave it till I go 21st June? Don't really want to trail over to orthos as time off work needed.

Thanks

Re: Third day of braces and still happy UK aged 41

Hello Has anyone else noticed any marks on their teeth? I'm wondering if it's where the braces have moved from and it's left a mark - is that possible? It's not the white marks which I've read about, they're kind of translucent is the only way I can describe them? Going to have a look back on my pic...

Re: Third day of braces and still happy UK aged 41

10 days have gone by already and today I was thinking to myself I almost keep forgetting that I have braces. I can eat normally now and have got used to food getting caught in them but I think they've settled in now lol. Only time I get a bit self conscious still is when I'm talking to strangers but...

Good that you can see movement so quickly. Wish I could as I've got gaps top and bottom from extractions so dying for the gaps to close quickly. Going to take a picture each month so I can compare & contrast. I was told the gaps would close in 2 months so should be half closed by christmas :wink...

Yes I got some 0.4mm brushes from Boots which are good for geting in between the teeth. I looked at the toothpaste but decided it was expensive and couldn't see what the difference was between that and 'normal' toothpaste. Think I got 2 packs of wax instead and the brushes. Do you mean you rubbed th...

Lucky you! I think mine is wearing off a bit now (thank goodness). I ended up in tears on Thursday night because like you say it was so painful to eat and I like eating! My hubby was saying I ought to go back and it can't be right etc but I said its normal and I had warned him prior to the braces I ...

UK products and lessons learnt so far...

Hi all I had my metal uppers and lowers put in on Tuesday 23/11 and had 2 teeth removed the Friday before. I'm 41 and live in the UK and thought I would share what I've learnt in the past 3 days. Firstly, I've learnt to keep taking the ibroprofen tablets as I tried going without and only got myself ...

Oh dear I'm new to this forum lark! I live in the UK and wanted to say that I although I'm 41 my NHS dentist told me that because the dental hospitals had run out of patients under 18 it is free for braces for anyone now? I would have thought this was nationwide unless its because my teeth are all o...

[quote="aveggiewriter"]Hiya,

Things do take a while on the NHS. I can't afford to go private though. Even on the NHS, I'm looking at £2000-£2500 for two years in full braces, because I'm too old now to be eligible for free ones.

Hello all I'm 41 and in the UK and just got braced today (uppers & lowers) for 24 months. I had to have two healthy teeth out last Friday to make way for the movement and I agree that was worse than the braces (so far anyway). I've ordered a few things from Denta kit and yes the shipping was exp...

Today I've offically joined the bracket club with uppers and lowers. Going to get used to eating with them and not had pain so far (until the ibroprofen wears off I think). Only slight problem at the moment is when I eat it catches a bit on my bottom lip so I've stuck some wax on for the time being....

Well I've just had the two teeth extracted and am sat here with cotton wool gauze stuffed in my mouth and a wonky lip from the numbness. Think this will be the most difficult bit before getting the braces on on Tueday 23/11. I took a few pictures yesterday as the 'before' piccies. Do you have to cre...

Thats what I keep telling myself - will be great when they come off in 2 years time!

Has anyone got any UK products they can recommend to help (with anything!)?

Thanks
