Re: Jaw surgery & hospital costs in Melbourne, Australia

Your surgeon is cheap! I paid $6500 for mine! he is the top one where I live though & very good... I think I got about $1000 back from medicare and HBF from him. $1500 for my Anaesthetist, and I got half that back off HBF, and luckily I had health insurace because the bill I got from the hospital wa...

Re: Recovery time?

I had lower jaw surgery a month ago. I was feeling fine after a week and could of gone back to work after 2 weeks. It was no way as bad as I was expecting. Getting my wisdon teeth out was worse.

Re: Personal ladies question

Turns out I was worrying for nothing lol my period decided to come a week late! I told the nurses it was due & they just told me to wear pads incase. But it didn't come until I got out of hospital! all the stress, anesthetic and medicines must have put it on hold for a few days.

Re: Before getting braces please read.

it's not normal to experience pain through the whole treatment. I only had pain for the first week I got them on. Even after adjustments it wasn't too bad. I can eat whatever I want. I don't even notice them anymore because I am so used to them. The only problem I have with eating is getting food st...

Re: December 2011 Surgery Buddies??

I had an apointment with my surgeon today. Had some moulds for my splint & some photos taken. He also took measurments of my teeth, bite, lips etc. He said I have a 9mm overjet and a 5mm overbite. He also said I have a recessed chin and I might need a genioplasty! I wasn't quoted for that when I fir...

Re: Personal ladies question

I've had my wisdom teeth out under general anesthetic and they let me leave my undies on for that (it was only a half an hour op though) but hopefully it's the same for jaw surgery & I'll be able to wear undies and a pad. Yeah im sure the nurses don't mind as th...
