Just curious, how often do you clean your hawley retainers? Do you clean them every day? Every week? I use Retainer Brite, but I'm not sure how often is too often...
Thanks!

Re: Deep bite
I had braces, elastics, and the build ups on my molars to deal with my deep bite.

Re: Deep bite (not overjet) relapse prevention
I’ve had my braces off for some time now after dealing with a deep bite. I’m relatively good at wearing my retainers or my night guard and have had no issues with any relapse. I think you just have to be good about wearing your retainers after braces and you’ll be fine.

Re: Biting the back of your cheek with retainers?
Thanks! I did ...ended up getting a mouth guard. I’ll probably go back and forth between that and my hawley retainer

Biting the back of your cheek with retainers?
I seem to have this issue while wearing the retainers of biting the back of my cheek at night. It's becoming a common occurrence and it's annoying me. Plus, I heard it could cause oral cancer if I continue doing it. I'm thinking of seeing my ortho again and asking about it. Maybe I should just wear ...

Re: Bruxism With Retainers
Interesting. I find that I clench my teeth more with retainers, but I can't really grind my teeth with the hawley retainers.

Biting the back of my mouth...
Braces have been off for ages now, been wearing the retainers, but lately I've been biting the back of my mouth on my right side. I'm wondering if I need to get my retainers adjusted. anyone else have this issue?

Yeah, I had that issue. Just try and make sure you're getting enough to eat. Also, I drank a bit of ensure to get some extra calories.

Re: Retainers and jaw pain
Yea, I think it's due to that and grinding...and a bit of holiday stress. Pain is gone, so I'll wear them again.

Retainers and jaw pain
I admit, I go through times where I hadn't worn my retainers and I started to wear them again and got a bit of jaw pain on both left/right side (bottom teeth) .. it's a bit throbbing, that went up to an earache and a headache. I was curious if retainers can cause this after not wearing them for some...

Re: bottom braces: [Metal] vs [ceramic with molar buildups]
If those are the two choices, I'd choose metal. I didn't have a choice, I had to have metal (but I did have ceramic on the top) - I had a deep bite and my ortho stated that ceramic was more "breakable?" .. and I also got the molar buildups. I HATED IT! But, you do get used to it -- but I w...

Re: Does your insurance cover adult orthodontics? How much?
Insurance covered $1500, then used FSA to help pay for the rest (almost 7k). Wow... our FSA has a yearly max of $2500... which I plan to max out next year. But between visits to the chiropractor, the dentist, and (occasionally) the doctor, I won't have the whole amount to be reimbursed for braces. ...

Re: Hawley retainers are 'outdated'?!
Essix and Hawleys each have their place. Essix do a better job securing tooth rotation; Hawleys tooth position. Hawleys can maintain arch expansion if you've had either appliances or surgery to accomplish this; Essix cannot. Essix retainers are easy, cheap, and quick to make (most orthos can do the...

Re: Ceramic braces on top, metal on bottom. Is this the norm
I had the same. I couldn't get ceramic on the bottom since my ortho stated they're more brittle.. I had a deep bite, so there was more of a chance of the bottom brackets coming off with my bite. I was happy with the top ceramics though. Not a lot of ppl. noticed my braces unless they were up close.
