Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
Thanks, I'll PM you. As for how I know the diagnoses are correct, I can replicate and confirm the measurements made by my ortho. My profile is far worse than that pic. I'm kinda self-conscious about posting photos, but here's an image showing the relative placement of things on a profile photo . Pro...

Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
I imagine the crowding can be fixed with braces, but what about the gummy smile, maxillary hypoplasia and vertical excess?

Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
I'm simply commenting on an image, as a layman. However, their consultations with two surgeons have suggested the problem is minor/does not require treatment. Thanks, but if they're both quacks I doubt it matters how bad my bite really is. What I need is a way to find a decent surgeon. :( I don't s...

Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
I think legally my parents are British citizens now, since they've been living and working here for over 15 years, but I admit I know little to nothing about the NHS. I know only that not having a permanent address in the States anymore prevents me from getting insurance there. Do you have any pictu...

Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
I'll probably have it done privately. Everything I've read about the NHS makes me doubtful about trusting it, especially for surgery like this. That page is confusing. It says that "reversals of the normal relationship of upper and lower teeth" of more than 2mm are grade 4, yet open bites ...

Re: Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from
Doesn't matter if they think it's necessary. The deformity is there, *I* it's necessary to treat it, and last I checked, I was the one offering to pay them for that treatment.

Saw two surgeons, both quacks; no idea where to go from here
Since my last post on here I've had consultations with two maxillofacial surgeons, who unfortunately turned out to be quacks who found every excuse they could not to take my case. The first said I was a "slight/minor case" that was "within statistical limits", and the second flat...

Easier said than done. It's not all that easy to get a fast appointment with a good plastic or maxillofacial surgeon, especially now we're approaching the holiday season. I have a consultation on the 10th and hope to eventually see several doctors to get some second opinions, but that takes time. I ...

Disregard what I said. Having looked at all of the X-rays and photographs I've had taken, I've realized that the problem is that my gonial angles are flared INWARD rather than outward. It's blatantly obvious when looking at my face from below Is this a common deformity? I'm thinking permanent filler...

BSSO to increase intergonial distance?
My problem (well, one of them) is that I have a wide mandible but a high ramal taper and no flaring at the gonial angle, in effect giving the strange apearance that my jaw too wide at the top, too narrow at the bottom, and too rounded...well everywhere. I remember reading that a BSSO could reduce th...

Both your body and mind needs to be in tip top shape before undergoing something as serious as jaw surgery. How did you recover from your first breakdown...surely you spoke with people to talk you through it....maybe just talking with someone will help. Talked to someone? More like 2 weeks hospital...

I thought cheek implants were a relatively minor procedure? I know a lot of people have had cheek implants after their jaw surgery, which is still 2 separate operations...I guess all I can do is talk to my surgeon about it when I get the chance. As for what I've been doing for past years, nothing bu...

The problem is, I've actually got to actually live for the next [insert time until Lefort surgery], and manage to live a relatively normal life at that, without feeling hideous and abnormal every time I walk out the front door, otherwise I'm just heading for another breakdown. Braces I can live with...
