Re: Occlusal (incisal) cant? [Pic]
Your teeth look like they do match your lip line. You are probably just not used to it. Do your teeth match up with your eyes?

Re: Plastic surgeon vs Maxillofacial Surgeon
Hmmmm.... Okay so I had surgery a year ago. I was very symmetric pre-op. Plan was to impact my upper jaw, advance my lower. I woke up and my entire jaw, top and bottom, where tilted on an angle. WTF, right!? In any case, that left me with a cant I never had pre-op, and a tilted jaw/chin. I assume qu...

Re: Changes to Nose
I was extremely nervous about my nose changing... I had 5-6mm maxillary impaction and 5-6mm mandibular advancement. My nose looks very much the same to me... I was very surprised. It may be a tad less hook-like and more up-lifted...but in a good way. It definitely did NOT get wider. That was my bigg...

Re: Bone Shaving
Yes, I am quite nervous about it. I also wonder of those who had it...are you satisfied? Does it look better or worse?
I remember hearing about bone shaving a lot when I was pre-op so I know there has to be someone on this board who had it done... Come on, anyone... ???

Bone Shaving
I had double jaw surgery and a genioplasty over a year ago. My lower jaw is crooked and it bothers me. I have an appointment coming up with a plastic surgeon, so I am sure he will answer these questions for me, however I was wondering if someone who has had bone shaving done could provide some input...

Breathing after surgery
Question for those of you who already had surgery... The first few days after my surgery (upper and lower), I could not breathe out of my nose at all. Not even a tiny sliver of relief. 100% plugged up for 5 days. That was by far the most difficult thing for me recovery wise. Breathing only through t...

Re: Less symmetry post op
PrincessLea, I came across your blog and took a look at your pictures. While you looked a little asymmetrical post-surgery, you look significantly better now. I think a lot of it was swelling. Based on your latest pictures, I would say any asymmetry is minimal. I'd be happy with your results! Just m...

Re: Unsuccessful Surgery - Need Advice
Just wanted to give an update. I spoke with my surgeon again and he says he will fix it. I am unsure what I am going to do but we'll see what my insurance says first and then I will make a decision. Thank you all for your responses and giving me the encouragement to seek a solution.

Question about the use of TADs
My ortho has suggested using TADs to resolve my canted smile (which is actually the result of my double jaw surgery), but he thinks I only need them 1-2 months. Everyone else who has had TADs has had them so much longer (Barkingharangue, etc). Strange that I would need them for such a little amount ...

Re: Unsuccessful Surgery - Need Advice
Also, I hear of many who pursue legal action when their surgery goes wrong, but I have yet to hear of anyone who actually won their case.
Have any of you heard of anyone winning?

Re: Unsuccessful Surgery - Need Advice
Thanks Maxhammer and RYANvaughn. I am going to get a couple 2nd opinions and go from there. Only reason I hadn't already was because my ortho keeps insisting he can fix it. But it has been a year now and my teeth are exactly the same as the day I came out of surgery so I am no longer optimistic. Tim...

Re: Unsuccessful Surgery - Need Advice
Can you sue? Putting your jaw on crooked isn't in the norm of medical care. I definitely would like to. My ortho seems to think it is "not that bad" but I beg to differ. I am not sure if he just doesn't want to upset the surgeon he works so closely with... I am not really sure how to find...

Unsuccessful Surgery - Need Advice
It has been a while since I have been here... I had a Lefort I + BSSO + genio almost exactly 1 year ago. The results were less than ideal... Within a week of my surgery, I noticed that things were not as they should be. While my bottom jaw and chin seemed fine, the top jaw was completely on crooked....

Re: Orthodontic Relapse after TADs?
I should also note that the cant I have was a result of orthognathic surgery. I was very symmetrical pre-surgery and came out very crooked. So my concern about relapse is important to me because I wonder whether this "fix" is not as permanent as surgery.
