Re: Broken retainer :(
Heya. The appointment went fine. The orthodontist made me a Hawley for my uppers and I went back a couple of days ago to pick up a hawley for my lowers too. Fingers crossed! I sincerely believe essix retainers are just too fragile for me and I'm a life long grinder too.

Broken retainer :(
So I got my retainer 10 days ago, on the day I got it fitted I noticed there were a few little cracks on the top of the upper essix. I mentioned this to my Orthodontist who said that was normal as they tend to do that. Not to my surprise completely as they're still a bit tight to get in and out toda...

Dare I ask??
I'm 28 and have been wearing braces since October 2010. The original plan was 22-24 months but what with things going better than expected in the movement of a gap from a previous extraction we didn't think would its been longer. Now 36 months in and I'm getting itchy feet I'm going on a massive hol...

Did you run over time?
Hey! I'm 27 and have been in braces now for 33 months. My original estimate was 22-24 months so I've gone some months over. I dont think about my braces all the time anymore as they've become a way of life for me now but dream of the day they come off! Is anyone else in a similar situation and feeli...

Re: How often do you brush/floss/rinse in a day?

It feels like I'm always doing something to my teeth... Brushing, mouthwash, floss, interdental brushes, water rinse, changing my elastics.... Just check...

Getting an appointment
Do any of you sometimes struggle to book your next appointment when you're leaving the ortho? My orthodontist always says to me "see you in six weeks" but then the battle with the receptionist begins where I have to fight often just to get six weeks often I have to take seven and at a real...

Plaque on brackets
I have noticed a white build up around the brackets on my metal brace, :-( bottom teeth only and only the ones close together in the middle, the hygienist told me it was plaque but everything I try I can't seem to shift it between my cleanings. I guess I could do better with my interdental brush but...

Re: Teeth turning...
I'm always accumulating stains even the best I try and I clean my teeth a lot! The fact is I love coffee too and tea and tomato ketchup! All stain collectors, the hygienist should be able to clean most of them off no worries so don't panic. I did and got myself into a right mess and all the marks we...

Re: How long will I be in elastics?
I've worn elastics for 18 months so far but you might be lucky and not need them at all! Only your ortho will know. But if you need them don't worry they're okay really! Plus you might not need them for long! X

Re: embarassed about my braces- need some encouragement
Your braces look awesome! And at the end your teeth will too, they have lovely shape and colour. Trust me I've been in braces for two years four months and the embarrassment passes! X
