Re: Genetics?

In some royal families in the past, underbites were actually considered the norm due to the high amount of inbreeding. And as time progressed, the underbites got more and more deformed through royal intermarriage. Genetics is a very complicated subject but through this case of the royal family a lot...

A week w/ an expander?

Hi! So I'm getting braces for the 2nd time pretty soon! I told my dentist I wouldn't mind getting braces so long as I don't have to wear that darn expander ever again. He told me that he'd probably will give me expander but only for a week.

Is that even possible?

Re: I feel very alone with this.

OMG! I felt the same way as you do right now! I endured my time with braces just like any other typical kid does. I was even voted best freakin smile in my senior class! I took my smile for granted for sure. Never in a million years did i ever think this could happen to me. Out of the thousand cases...

Re: It's Crunch Time - Do I or Don't I, Please HELP!!

Hey jaymac! I'm undergoing jaw surgery mainly for cosmetic reasoning. Although my bite is uncomfortable its not like I'm living in pain. But my dentist did tell me if I don't fix it I will probably have some jaw issues later in life. I work in a job where physical looks is a key factor. So I guess m...

If you are overall pleased by your appearance I would go for just the lower jaw surgery. Upper jaw surgery sometimes can make a dramatic change in your facial appearance...good or bad. But mostly good :) But typically most people seek a wider smile and fuller upper face and would benefit from upper ...

Bite worsens with braces..

It seems to be normal for people on here to have their bite worsen after getting braces before surgery. I'm not sure how many had braces previously since i know the mouth has an amazing ability to hide imperfections. But I've had braces (just a year ago) that fixed my previous crossbite and I actual...

Hi! Right when I got my braces removed they looked perfect and was very pleased! But my ortho was an ocd and still made tiny tweaks to my retainer to make it even more perfect. lol

So if you aren't happy, I'm sure your ortho is more than happy to make adjustments to your retainer.

This is my second time getting braces. I had braces initially when I was 12 years old till I turned 16!! They fixed my crossbite and severely crooked teeth. And I had a beautiful perfect smile for two years before my jaw decided to have a late growth spurt. I'm 18 now and I'm not too happy going to ...
