Re: The start of my journey

Glad you came through okay! Those pictures are very interesting! It's great that you are not feeling any pain. I had a bit of a similar situation - my canine was stuck up in my gum, but it was just blocked by a baby tooth, so once the baby tooth was gone it was able to be pulled down without surgery...

Whitening options offered by dentist

I am going to be having my braces removed in a few weeks and I am going to my dentist the same day for a cleaning. I asked him if I can also do whitening that same day, and he said I need to wait two weeks. He said he offers strips and trays, and that in the long run, they both accomplish the same r...

Re: How (or has) your discomfort changed?

My discomfort lasted for a few weeks, and just as it started to ease up, I had my first adjustment and I felt like I was back to square one. I felt very discouraged that every subsequent adjustment would put me back to the beginning as far as pain/sensitivity, but fortunately it does actually get ea...

Sonicare Diamondclean?

Does anyone else use this brush? I replaced my Flexcare with the Diamondclean. I've only used it twice so far. Very similar to the Flexcare, but it does feel like it may have a little more power, and the modes are different also.

Re: Talk me out of doing it...

Don't do it... that way, you can look back 5 years from now and still have the same teeth instead of the perfect teeth you'd have had if you'd just jumped in and done it! :-*

Re: Any regrets? Newbie not so sure about this...

I'm going to hazard a guess that most of us have regretted it at some point, especially toward the beginning, but it DOES get better! That's a promise. For me, it took longer than I'd like to get used to everything, but the point is that I did. I started my journey nearly three and a half years ago,...

Re: Should I keep elastic on while eatting??

I'm with nightmare56. I take mine out because I want to put in fresh ones after I eat since they'll be stretched out after eating, plus it's a good way to remind myself to change my bands.

Re: Debrace Date and Retainer Questions!

Congratulations! I don't understand why you think essix wouldn't be an option? When you wear an essix your teeth don't touch...so I am not sure why it wouldn't work for you. Maybe I am missing something...and might need further clarification. The way I took it was that he was saying that since ther...

Dentist vs orthodontist

Hi! I'm hoping this post will trigger someone's memory to help me find a link for someone. There was a post a while back about why it is important to seek orthodontic treatment from an orthodontist rather than a dentist, and it involved a bit of a horror story about someone whose treatment was very ...

Do you have an essix or hawley?

Learning toward essix

I think I might have a choice between essix and hawley retainers. If I do, I'm leaning toward essix, and I'd like to see if my reasoning is flawed. First of all, I have heard that essix are more comfortable. Comfort is important because if hawleys hurt, I'd be less likely to wear them and we all kno...

Re: HEY EVERYONE: I need your opinions plz on a new toothbru

*bump* Did you buy the brush? Are you able to reveal the mystery product yet? I, too, am looking for a new toothbrush to replace my old-school Sonicare that I got 2.5 years ago.

Braces off soon... build-ups needed?

Hello there... haven't been here for a while but I return now because my braces will be off in around July or August. My orthodontist says my canines are too small and will have to be "built up." Can anyone explain this to me a bit more, and does anyone have pictures of their teeth that ha...

Re: Tooth top gaps?!?

I would encourage you to stick with the braces. Remember that it will get worse before it gets better. Some people end up going from crooked teeth to gaps, or vice versa (I went vice versa), but after waiting several months it finally all straightens itself out. I think sometimes our braces over-cor...

Re: How did you tell people???

Same as most, I didn't tell anyone. I didn't want to hear the opinions beforehand. I only told my husband (boyfriend at the time) a day or two before my bonding appointment. I figured once it's said and done, there's not much left anyone can say that would matter.
