Re: Dentist appt. vs ortho appt.--EEK!
I'm in agreement with auco99 on this one - the embarrasment of going to the dentist exposing my teeth was a good reason to hate going to the dentist but I think the fear was deeper than that! Still hate the dentist and have an irrational fear of going! Not sure it will ever change! I sit a quivering...

I have had a few brackets re-positioned during the last 18 months and it is a bit uncomfortable but bearable in the main - one time really hurt though...

Re: My ortho wants bonded retainers top and bottom. Opinions
I'm glad this question has come up! My ortho told me that in a couple of visits he will be looking at confirming my d-day!!!! Yay!!!! :-) He said to start thinking about retainers, he prefers fixed as his experience is that people are not disciplined enough for removable. I am not keen at all on the...

Re: ceramics and curry/coffee?
So far my experience is avoid the curry (its only the turmeric) but coffee/tea are OK. Yes, my ligs don't stay sparkly clear/white for the whole time between visits but it's not noticeable apart from the neon yellow curry stain (saved for couple of days before visits!)

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
My d-day is looming....couple more visits my ortho said. I started my current job about a month into Braces so people there dont know me any other way! Weirdly I'm dreading the comments about not having them......just like I dreaded the comments about having them with my other friends/family/previou...

Re: Getting braces & being a MUM!
sounds weird but eating chewy sweets (haribo type) helps me with the pain - when my teeth hurt I just want to grind them which is naughty so I chew on sweets (or chewing gum but I get bored of that!). It really helps and it's only 1 day every few weeks on average! You can get sugar free sweets I jus...

when do you get D-Day appointments
How far in advance did you guys get your d-day appointments? I was just wondering if it was days, weeks or months in advance? I was hoping that my 18 month target is on track but I daren't ask in case I'm disappointed! My ortho hasn't mentioned it although he did say he would start the finishing off...

Re: What was your first meal after Debonding day?
I am going to indulge in curry and red wine and not feel the need to race upstairs to deal with staining! :D Then I am going to finish with a cadburys double decker! Curious though.....I think the reason I can't bite is pyscological - there is no reason I can't although my front teeth have been tend...

Re: Eating out tonight - HELP with menu / ceramic / staining
All I found I need to avoid with clear ligs is anything containing turmeric....curry, mustard, picallili. Havent really had a problem with coffee, tomato based things, red wine, all of that brushes out - I get discolouration between visits but nothing that bad - my only bad time was a curry when the...

Went to the ortho on monday. Apparantly I'm in my finishing wire on top, second to last on the bottom! no idea how much longer, estimate was that I would be done by Feb 2012! but was v excited that I'm on the finishing wire! I know I have elastics to come once by bottom teeth sort themselves out a b...

Thanks for all the replies! I'm kinda dreading it because I'm worried about how they look etc. But exciting too because must mean it's going to make an improvement and am looking forward to the outcome!

how many stages?! And elastics :-(
Hi all, Had an adjustment up last week - I'm on a higher strength wire now - think its the 3rd strength I've been on since I started, definately thicker than the last 2 types I've had anyway. My ortho then said I will have to have elastics when I get into stage 3! Stupidly I did not ask him how many...
