My teeth were polished at the Ortho as part of the removal procedure. They feel very slick and smooth.

I have to return in one month for a retainer check.

I felt pressure that's all. When they removed the bands around the molars there was this awful smell (I know gross) I have good oral hygiene but I guess some bacteria still was around those areas with the bands. When they scraped the cement/glue whatever off I was told that if my teeth felt extremel...

I just got my retainers yesterday and they just told me to wear them for 24 hours a day only removing to eat and of course brush. They did tell me to come back in a month for an adjustment something like that so I have no idea how long. I'm assuming they will tell me as I continue getting my retaine...

Oh my goodness your teeth look very similar to mine pre-braces. I had a diastema too, it closed within 6 months, only very slight space there that no one can notice but me and the Ortho.

Hi posum, I HAD a Diastema. I have had my braces on since May 2005 and the diastema closed within 6 months. The diastema wasn't the main reason I sought orthodontic treatment, I also had an overbite. You should definately go to at least 2 different orthodontists for a consultation to see what the be...

Well, my ortho has me come in every 3 weeks, I thought it would be just once a month. I think the every 3 weeks has really helped in my teeth moving so quickly.

*I didn't know about teeth dying under strain as someone mentioned. Scary!

Brandee that looks great!!!! :D Your before picture is definately what I have been describing. The reason it wasn't so noticeable before is my teeth were out more so to speak so my lip couldn't roll back as much.

weirdwired your pics look great too!

This is very encouraging. :D

Serenity.. This is my first post.. I am getting braced on Tuesday and I was waiting to post then but I wanted to reply to your dilemma. I had the gum procedure that your ortho is talking about.. I actually did it because I hated my gummy smile.. When i had the gums lifted, more of my teeth showed t...

I would give yourself a good month to think about this before discontinuing the treatment - after all, you've done six months, a few weeks more won't kill you. Naturally when I smile I show a bit of gum, like a lot of people. However it is possible to train yourself to smile with your upper lip dow...

I also don't know why you'd stop treatment. WHen you start, your ortho has a plan in mind, and just because it "looks" like it's 99% completed, it doesn't mean it is. Roots have to move, etc etc. I can undertsand not being happy with the gum result, but like your ortho said, there are way...

Re: Confused

I am confused. :? How would ending ortho treatment help the problem you are concerned with? Pre-braces when I smiled you didn't see the gums the way you do now. When I smile u see my upper lip a whole lot of gum tissue and then teeth, not attractive. Braces are aligning your teeth and I assume that...
