When I was being treated with Invisalign, I used to visit my ortho every 4-6 weeks. He would give me my next batch of 2-3 aligners and check to make sure that the teeth were moving in the right direction. The appointments generally didn't last longer than 30 minutes. My original plan was 6 months and 14U/14L. The ortho told me that I had a minor case and my main aim was to push forward the left lateral incisor, rotate the left central incisor and straighten my lower front 6 teeth. After two sets of refinements (6U/6L & 5U/5L) my teeth still aren't straight. ...

I don't think that'd work for a number of reasons:

1) Your orthodontist will need to make minor adjustments every now and then

2) Buttons may need to be removed or added

3) The teeth may not move in the expected direction

4) If you damage the braces, you'll have to get them to send you new ones.

I know this is a bit late but if you want Invisalign, I'd say you are a candidate. Of course, that's only by comparing your teeth to mine and I was recently accepted for the procedure.
