Re: Surgery recovery and KISSING

I can say that for myself the loss of ability to kiss in the first month was a bonus, since we just moved to the real deal that much quicker...

Just kidding ! :D

(or am I ?)

Re: do you lose much weight after jaw surgery?

My mouth was closed 10 days after surgery and I've hardly lost weight at all (and it's very easy for me to lose weight).

3-4 days after surgery you gain your appetite back and with a 5-6 meals per day you can get all the calories you need to keep your weight.

Re: 15 months post-op: happy with results but...

I've read that from the moment a tooth-nerve dies, to the moment the tooth start to change color, sometimes even years can pass. So theoretically it's possible those two teeth died at surgery, and I simply had no clue. Even after 15 months I still have some loss of sensation at lower jaw so maybe I'...

Re: 15 months post-op: happy with results but...

Two more thoughts I had:

1. I wonder why isn't it standard procedure to check (all) teeth viability after orthognathic surgery...

2. Although less likely, but it is possible to kill the tooth nerve during orthodontic treatment.

15 months post-op: happy with results but...

First of all I want to say I'm very happy with my results, and not regret my choice of going through surgery (which was mainly, or to be honest, only done from aesthetic reasons...). My operation included Lefort I for upper jaw and something similar to BSSO for lower jaw (called mandibular segmental...

Re: The aesthetic outcome of my underbite surgery

Thanks Shanalouis :) Crazybeautiful, I agree that you are totally correct by saying that this surgery makes us look normal (meaning without malocclusion). But I would also like to add that when doing these surgeries, the surgeon doesn't want to just fix the malocclusion, rather he wants to use this ...

Re: JULY 2010 BUDDIES!!!!

Congrats Isolde ! I'm still with braces, hopefully in a month or two it will come off. But to tell the truth I don't care that much, now that I'm almost 6 months post op and feeling good :) Btw, I've posted some before/after profiles here: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=37162

Re: The aesthetic outcome of my underbite surgery

Ok, almost 6 months post op, I think it's time to post some before/afters for those who requested it. The angles are not exactly the same, but you should get the general idea...

Re: when people have successful surgery, why do they move on

when people have successful surgery, why do they move on and not post here anymore? I'd like to hear good feedback. The forum is not a blog. People come here mainly to ask questions if they have problems (or to answer questions). If you want to read about patient success just go to any jaw surgery ...

Everybody goes through a different experience with this surgery so it's hard to tell. I can tell you that there wasn't anything in the recovery process that I've found hard to cope with, apart from the pains that I had when trying to pee for the first few days post-op. If it wasn't for this annoying...

I kind of appreciate now the guts of those who post before/after movies on youtube... those revealing before/afters motivated me more than anything else to start my journey.

Re: ........................

mind posting some photos? :D.................... Well, maybe just the lower face... but really, in order to see the full effect you really need to compare full face before vs full face after, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that (moreover I've been told posting full face pics is against forum...

One more thing, I believe that an underbite draws attention to itself. When people stare or talk with someone who has an underbite, a lot of attention is focused on the lower jaw, since it's so prominent. As a consequence, other areas in the face are neglected. I say this because for the first time ...
