That's a good point about powerchains. I am now wearing "double" powerchains on each row (I just had them put on today) so maybe it's time I invest in a waterpik. There are so many models it seems. Which one do you like?

Yes, everyone is thorough on here but not me. :) I just kinda brush more or less when I think I need to. Definitely when I wake up, after I eat bfast, after lunch and then before bedtime which is always the hardest for me bcuz I am so tired and flossing adds another 10 to 15 minutes if I do it well....

I also have an overjet/protrusion issue and opted not to get extractions. My ortho has done IPR, double powerchains (yes, two on each row), and elastics so far and there has been shifting but not drastic which is fine with me. I wanted my smile to have more symmetry and a contoured look but I don't ...

Your teeth are stunning, just beautiful!! Did you have them professionally whitened? If so what brand/process did you use? Thanks and congrats on a wonderful smile.

I do a light brush in the morning before going to the gym. After eating breakfast I brush well, using a proxybrush to remove food particles and then a thorough brushing and rinse with listerine (no flossing). After lunch I repeat what I do after breakfast but w/ no mouthwash. After dinner/before bed...

I didn't have any natural gaps between my teeth to start with so the ortho suggested IPR. I had my first bit of shaving in late August and had power chains put on at that time. But surprisingly not a lot of movement since. Being half way finished with treatment and not a lot of movement I am becomin...

I guess my concern is my ortho told me I would only be in braces for 12 months so if I'm already half way there with no real noticeable movement in the last several weeks then I am a little concerned the 12 month estimate might be a little too hopeful. Btw, I didn't have extractions. Perhaps I shoul...

It has been 5 months

and I haven't seen much progress in the last few months. :( I initially had braces put on in May and I noticed change immediately (not significant change but at least noticeable) but nothing has really changed at all in the last few months and I have even been wearing power chains which I thought we...

What a fun thread! OK, so I have to admit I eat pretty much everything I ate pre-braces (with the exception of chewy foods like licorice, gummy bears, etc.) what I am most looking forward to is eating everything with absolute wild abandon!!! No more 'carefully' chewing on nuts, pretzels, chips, etc....

I just went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning and the hygienist recommended this same brush for me. Apparently I am having a difficult time getting to my lower pre-molars. The brackets are very close together and I have a difficult time brushing/flossing in that area.

random thought

I was sitting at work today thinking about how much thought and energy I put into whether to get braces, the cost, and how much maintenance it would be.... well, I've had braces for exactly 3 months now and I literally don't even think about them anymore.... the cost, pain, inconvenience, the length...

I've had ceramic braces since May and at first I hated them -- I thought they were big and ugly but now I LOVE them, especially now that my teeth are getting straight. I believe the straighter your teeth get the nicer ceramics appear. They just sort of blend in with your teeth after a while and most...

Yes, you should be patient but you should also let your ortho know what your expectations are. During my consult I told my ortho that I didn't want my teeth looking like tiny chicklets and that I preferred a slight overbite (I think overbites happen to make a woman look more feminine). I even went a...

My ortho did some IPR on Monday to create space for the protrusion of my top & bottom teeth. The first goal is to close gaps and then eventually I will have elastics put on to pull teeth in. I already see the gaps closing w/ powerchains so I hope elastics come sooner rather than later.
