Re: When in treatment did you get rubber bands?
I got bands 2 days ago. Definitely the most painful part of wearing braces so far for me. My ortho originally estimated that the treatment time would be about 18 months which would take me to November 2011 but a couple of months ago he said that I may get them off as early as May/June. Fingers cross...

I had all four wisdoms in my mouth when I began my orthodontic treatment. Approximately 5 months later, my ortho recommended that I see an oral surgeon about removing all my wisdoms. I believe that my lower right wisdom in particular was impacted and had only partially erupted and was causing all so...

I just had my 2 wisdoms removed this morning. During a prior consultation, the oral surgeon mentioned that he would use self-dissolving stitches but I don't see anything, just 2 black holes. lol. I think though that the stitches dissolve in a few days so maybe your stitches have done their job? Fyi ...

I don't think you'll have to take your braces off. I told my ortho a few weeks ago that I was thinking of relocating to another country but would like to retain him as my ortho. I was prepared to fly back for appointments every few months. He said that was ok. It may lengthen your treatment time (or...

I have broken 3 brackets now, all caused by an upper molar knocking the lower bracket off because I have a crossbite. I was not charged for any of the replacement brackets but my ortho did say when he fixed the brackets on my lower molars that he wasn't sure if they would stay on so I guess he knows...

- Topic: what are molar bands and what is their purpose?

From what I researched when I first heard about spacers, molar bands are required for teeth which have large fillings that spill over the teeth. The brackets usually have trouble staying on these teeth so molar bands which wrap around the molars are used as a base for the brackets to be attached too...

The pearls looks awesome, Cathy! I might try them next. I know what you mean about making your teeth look whiter. Funny thing is, when I had the clear ligs I felt that they made my teeth look yellow. When I had the light purples put in, they seemed to brighten up my teeth. Do let us know how the pea...

Cathy, you should try light purple/lavender ligs. I had clear ligs when I was first braced and like you said, the staining isn't obvious but when you zoom in to take a picture you can see that it's there. Mine were neon yellow from chicken ramen and curry. The ortho's assistant recommended the light...

LOL this topic tickled me! I don't think I drool in my sleep but my mouth definitely opens at some point during the night because I wake up with dry lips and a very dry mouth (and of course the mouth is open when I awake). When I really drool though is during flossing! It's extremely irritating and ...
