You were intubated (had a breathing tube) in an OS office? Was there an anesthesiologist present? How long did you stay after? That is sooooooooo scary.

same here. I just used my fingers. My cousin had a zig zag configuration for her last month in braces and she had to use a metal dental scaler thing to get them OFF in the mornings but it was easier to get them on with just her fingers.

Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed. If they fit in your mouth and aren't causing any problems, there's no reason to take them out. Mine are perfectly happy in my jaw (haven't even begun to erupt) and that is where I am leaving them until they hurt or start growing in. I know I hav...

He's a teenager so I would go with regular metal brackets that he can have colored ligs on. That way he can get school colors, sports team colors, whatever. The docs on the site have said Damons don't work much faster, if any faster, than regular brackets. The good thing with them is it usually mean...

I'm not the doc... Fixed without pain? Impossible for most people. Braces don't hurt THAT bad and some people experience very little to no pain. It varies person to person. Because of your bite (esp the left side from what I can see) I'd say you should go ahead and get braces. Just because you're 18...

Insurance companies are the devil, plain and simple. But it could be worse. You could be flying solo with NO insurance. How nice of them to let you know 2 months after it expired though. You'd think they'd at least send a letter to you letting you know, or just include the statement that it expires ...

I didn't have a dental checkup or cleaning before braces but I was only 15 at the time. It seems to be standard for adults. I can only guess that that is because adults are more likely to have existing problems that may need to be taken care of then teenagers? Getting braces on isn't really that bad...

Guys please stick with it. I know it stinks but take it from someone who could never convince herself to wear the elastics full time. They will NOT work unless you wear them all the time. I gave up too early (they didn't make any noticeable change so I had no motivation to wear them anymore). The ke...

I love seeing people so interested in what is going on with their medical procedures. The people who don't care scare me... With IV sedation as you will most likely be getting for your SARPE, you will also have several numbing shots so no you won't feel anything. They also wait until you're snoozing...

I have about 24 purple (grape) ones I never used. I did use one once and it really helped. Chewing on a cool wet washcloth works wonders too.

general or IV sedation? there's a big difference. Wisdom teeth that have erupted can often be removed with a simple extraction (numb it up and pull it out). It's when they are impacted that you have to have surgery for it but teenagers do it everyday and are just fine so don't worry. I know it's sca...

As someone who will be intubating (putting the tube down your throat) people before their surgeries in a mere 3 months I can say yes that is bound to hurt. Oh if you only knew how we do it... I can also tell you that you will NOT be intubated if you are having your surgery in a doctor's office. In o...
