Re: JULY 2010 BUDDIES!!!!

I finally got my braces removed today, now just have to wear a retainer at night and 4 hours a day. Feels so great to not have braces on anymore. :D

Hope everyone is doing well

Went to the orthodonist yesterday and first time they started moving my teeth again since surgery, she wanted to give me 2 months to heal before doing it again. My teeth are so sore.... She really tightened the bottom teeth and then has this rubber band that is all over and really tight. Not to ment...

I had double jaw, my nose was bleeding a lot for the first week and a half or 2 weeks, I don't remember exactly. Every time I got up and was up for a while my nose started bleeding.

They do cut through your sinuses with upper jaw surgery, so it happens.

People really didn't even notice a difference in me. Only the people who know what they are looking at, or see what I looked like before, then you see that my upper lip is more even with my bottom lip and my nose is a bit wider and higher or something. I didn't have a problem with my looks though, i...

Yeah I thought you had to pay for braces as well, didn't know health insurance covers it, at least they don't for me.

Depends on you, everyone is different. Some people said how they were in pain, I literally had no pain at all and never needed any pain medication. I was wired shut for 5 weeks, that was the worst part of it, liquids only for that long. The first few days I couldn't sleep either, that sucked. I coul...

You ain't kidding this surgery is pricey. I have just been getting some bills from having it done in July. First off my surgeon bill was over 20 thousand dollars, my insurance covered most of that. Then I received the bill for the anesthiologist and it was a few thousand for that, I had to put it ba...

Oh and about the tweaking of the braces, when I saw my ortho she told me she doesn't want to adjust them for 2 more months so that a lot of the soreness from the surgery goes away before she goes back to moving my teeth and having that soreness. She didn't take out my hooks either, but I have been w...

Maybe your ortho is right if you only can fit 1 figure in your mouth. I was fitting 2 fingers in my mouth at that time.

Since I got unwired and allowed to open I was opening and closing my mouth to try and improve the motion.

My nose changed, but I think for the better. People used to tease me that my nose was big, but it may of been because my upper lip was too in. Its a little wider and higher it seems, but from what people tell me it isn't as big as it was. My surgeon did say that it would take emphasis off of my nose...

How long until the soreness and numbness goes away

I am around 2 months since surgery for upper and lower jaw surgery. On my left side I have this sore spot that if I press on really hurts, its like by my ear kind of where my bottom jaw ends, I guess where they broke it? Then my teeth are sore and just feel weak and weird. The numbness in my upper g...

I was wired shut for 5 weeks and the wires didn't lose strength, I couldn't move my mouth at all for those 5 weeks as they were too tight.

I had my splint taken out Wednesday, it was my last Oral Surgeon appointment, said everything is great. I go see my ortho for the first time post surgery on Wednesday. I have some problems that I hope the braces can fix. Some teeth still don't touch and on my left side the teeth in the back. The bot...

Is it normal for your bite not to look great after surgery

I had my splint taken out today and my bite doesn't look very good. My upper jaw is now over my bottom, I originally had a underbite. But it looks like a lot of teeth still aren't touching. I didn't see it in the office with my surgeon as I didn't have a mirror. I have appointment with my ortho next...

I had a blended cheeseburger. It was the best thing EVER!. Just mix in a lot of beef broth. I also ate chicken pie, chili, Indian food (butter chicken with rice). I have a facebook friend who's husband made "real meals' and blended everything for her - pizza, pasta, everything really. If Josh ...
