I saw changes the next day, freaked me out (front tooth had very noticeably shifted). I'm a few months in now and the changes are far less rapid now, but still coming along.

Whining - oh the pain!

Had an open coil spring placed, to help rotate a tooth that is still too crooked to get a bracket on, on Monday and I don't think I've ever felt so much pain before. I've barely slept since then it's so bad *sighs*. Please, someone tell me it's all going to settle down soon and will be fine! This ha...

I saw changes to my bite within days, seriously. It's a whacked out open bite now though. I had some pretty major bite issues so my ortho is tackling those first, meaning it shifts daily and I haven't been able to bite comfortably since about a week after my braces went on. I've had some pretty dram...

Okay yeah so sensitive question  . Be careful! Use wax! It's been possible but I've been being like ridiculously careful and such and it'll probably be 2 years before we get too adventurous again (when they come off!). It's definitely still possible though.

If you drive, sing along in the car. Anytime you're home, talk to yourself. I felt like a crazy person. I'd be writing emails and saying what I was typing as long as I was alone.

I know the feeling though. Good luck with the dissertation!

After the first couple of days I started talking A LOT. But only to myself *laughs*. I tried things like the Rainbow Passage (http://web.ku.edu/~idea/readings/rainbow.htm) which is meant for practicing elocution and I sang along to music almost constantly. I found my speech improved really really ra...

I have to admit I avoided talking to people for the first week, except for my boyfriend who kept saying "it's not that bad!!!" (while also saying "what? could you repeat?"). I talked to someone at my first adjustment though who had standard braces and she felt the exact same and ...

I did a lot of reading/singing out loud and I'd say mine was mostly back to normal within a couple of weeks. I still lisp on the occasional word or if I'm tired or dehydrated (it really changes my lips/cheeks then!), but it's been fine. Having wax on the brackets makes it muuuuch worse though. That'...

Yeah the number of people who have told me I'm "paying for a car" or "paying for college!" astound me, they just don't understand why I'd bother or have accused me of doing something just for vanity sake. Luckily the people who matter have been really supportive but still. I'm im...

I thought wax would be fiddly and messy but I haven't found it that way at all. I can get it on in a fraction of a second. The silicone "wax" is more fiddly than the standard stuff though, that needs a dry surface. Standard wax I just grab some and jab it on.

My mouth felt...weird when I first got my braces on. That's the best way to describe it. First, I was still dismayed by horrifying tooth dust (I have linguals on the top and they had to microetch my teeth) so I think that blocked out some of the initial impressions. My lips do protrude a bit more th...

Yup. My bite is insanely off. My ortho is concentrating on adjusting my bite right now (in addition to starting the process of moving a couple of very crooked teeth so I can actually get a bracket on one of them). It pretty much changes daily now, but hasn't actually been what I'd call remotely norm...

It's completely normal. Odds are you're already feeling better though! I got past the worst of the pain in a few days, though every once in a while a single tooth suddenly started hurting and I could see noticeable movement. I'm only a little over 6 weeks in but the movement is already dramatic!

It was about $8300 for both upper and lower linguals for me (in the pacific NW US). I opted for just upper linguals and lower ceramics for a little over 7k in total. It's basically invisible, no one sees my bottom teeth unless I show them.

I don't know what it would be in Belgium though.
