Re: Repositioning Brackets? Why?

Learned something again...at least it sounds plausible. Jaw snapping occurred for me at month 3 and 4 then subsided. It always caught me completely offguard resulting in a biten tongue and cheeks (ouch!!). Once it happened while I was engaged in a conversation and although I was not speaking at the ...

Re: did you take a sick day

I didn't take a sick day but wished I had. Thinking that I was a confident person with a healthy ego and able to just "fly" with the whole bracing process, was my mistake. Day one of bracing really kicked my ego's butt. I think alot depends on what your occupation is (even for confident pe...

I agree with most of the posts that your teeth look very nice. I also think that you should get the results that you want if those results are possible. Seems that a little more time might get that tooth in the correct position, but then maybe I've greatly understated the process and the reality is ...

Lotztredder and Crystal, this string was fun to read. It is so real and expresses my thoughts exactly (my teeth suck and I've come to terms with it and am doing something about it...can't wait until its done)

My initial visit was fairly quick and took just 20 minutes. The ortho looked over my mouth consulted iwth another ortho and then both agreed I was definately a candidate for braces. I was given a records appt the following week which was quite extensive. At the records appointment the ortho schedule...

I'm from the US, I live in New York and do not know anyone in their 40's who have braces. I paid the full bill for my orthodontics since my insurance doesn't cover any ortho care if you are over 18 years of age. Ortho care in New York is quite expensive and from what I can see, it is rare for adults...

Spurfy, You are having a bumpy ride, but I think it will get better for you so hang in there. ClassII put it very well when they essentially said if you don't do it now you will wish you had later, when your teeth no longer function for you. Everyone reacts differently with the bracing process and t...

I found this site between the time that I had my last consult and the time I was braced. I have had several periods of getting consults then "chickening out" over past 20 years. It finally panned out this way: I saved money in a HSA, then went for a consult (again) but didn't actually plop...

I used to notice people teeth because I suffered from envy (those with straight teeth). Now I notice teeth even more because it's easier to get away with studying people's teeth because people seem to make less eye contact with me since I've been braced. Has anyone noticed that more people tend to l...

WOW, that's horrible. I have heard of doctors with a lack of empathy, which is often due to arrogance, continue to treat people badly because they have been put up on a "pedestal". Should the fact that his payment...YES, he is being paid!...is not coming directly from your pocket allow him...

if you're going directly back to work remember to bring along a toothbrush. If you had spacers they will be removed and that is a nasty process. There are rotten food particles stuck around those spacers (you couldn't floss) and when they are removed it stinks like hell. When they were removed all I...

welcome nume, you are correct in that everyone is different. For me there was no physical pain immediately after being braced and I still haven't had pain even after a couple of adjustments. The psychological issue of feeling awkward was my biggest issue and still is (so many here would say "ge...
