Thanks everyone for your advice and thanks KK for your congratulations :D  :D

The weird thing is that the ortho's instructions say to use a denture cleaner every day. I'm going to observe those points closely if there's any discoloration and let you all know.

My new retainers and Retainer Brite

My braces came off today and now I have a new pair of Hawley retainers :D I was going to get Retainer Brite to clean them, but the dentakit.com site says "Not recommended for appliances with metal solder points." and now I'm not so sure. Here's a picture of my new Hawleys: http://bp0.blogg...

I've had lightly colored ligs (light pink, light purple, light orange, yellow) and haven't noticed any staining on those. I love blueberries and other kinds of dark berries, too!

In two weeks I'm going to Australia for three months. As I read this, it looks like I should take a waterpik with me, since they won't be available to buy when I get there. I have a corded one with a big tank right now. Should I get a cordless/rechargable one for the trip? How do you deal with the d...

Hm, you are right, I wrote that. It must have been before I found out what's really happening. Thanks for pointing that out - I'll correct it to avoid further confusion.

Update, both said doing the spacers would be fine, because they are in a different area of the mouth, and I haven't had any problems.

I always do a final rinse with fresh water. I think the saltwater works while you are doing the rinsing. No need to suffer afterwards, as far a I know...

Thanks for posting this. I'm having a soft tissue graft done in the middle of June after I get back from traveling. It's going to be the lower right incisor (tooth #25). Do you think I'll be ok have spacers in front of the second molars only two days later? It's a totally different area of the mouth...

Not at all. I went ahead with it shortly after my dentist told me it would be a good idea to have braces in order to avoid future problems.

One thing about both ceramics and am this way about the invisible braces too is that I notice them. It is almost like braces but not so I look at them even harder like "what is it on that persons teeth!" (sorry for those in ceramics, I think maybe I'm just a freak that way). When I see me...

I've had them from the third teeth on top to the first molars on bottom 6+5 = 11 weeks. That was to move the bottom teeth forward. Now I have a triangle second and third tooth on top, third on bottom (see my www link for a picture), so that the bottom teeth will move right behind the top teeth. I go...

I haven't had a root canal tooth taken out, but one with a huge filling. I don't know how much the difference in brittleness is, but with the huge filling there was no problem at all.
