Invasalign was not a viable option for me. My crowding in front was too severe to be treated effectively with invisalign.

The smell is the bacteria in the plaque. My dentist told me what the technical name is, but I forgot. It's a sign that you're getting all the little grubbies out of your teeth. So good job!!

Agreement!!

I agree that the square wires are more difficult to insert. I have had both, on one adjustment they used square upper and round lower. But my ortho likes the square wires because he has more precise control over the tooth movement. So hopefully the results will be worth it. Don't get discouraged!!

Well, I got new wires yesterday afternoon and had a septoplasty surgery today. Altogether not a good day for scott's head....But I'm ok. I'll post updates later (when I'm not on so many pain meds) if anyone is interested.

In the beginning, the ortho placed some glue on my molars to keep my overbite from knocking off the lower front brackets. Now, with all the movement, it's not needed. Just be patient!

Still making progress!! I can tell that my teeth are moving. The renewed pressure of the new wires is really worth the discomfort now!! While I had reservations at first, I am glad that I have undertaken this journey. Anyone thinking of undertaking braces should really be encouraged!!

I do see a lot of progression, and I feel the changes in my bite as well. And if pressure is any indication of movement, then I am MOVING!! Good luck with your bracketing. I didn't have to go through spacers, I only have brackets on my fronts...

Square wires

So...my top wire is square. My ortho likes the square; they allow him to control the tooth movement better. The new pressure is pretty intense. Luckily, I had some pain meds left from an extraction, so that's easing it a bit. But things are pretty miserable right now. But it's all to a good end. I'v...

Congrats on starting your journey. As for pain, I can't speak for spacers, but my discomfort started about 12 hours after I got braced. It went away after about 2 days. It wasn't too bad, though; nothing that motrin couldn't fix. Good luck!!

I'm 31 and have had braces for about 2 months. I'm happy that I've started this journey, even when my cheeks are getting poked by wires and my teeth are sore. I've always had a jacked up smile with moderate crowding up front. I have been, however, been blessed with strong teeth. And after some inten...

I didn't take pictures on day one, and have been trying to not analyze my teeth in the mirror every day. But, like you, I have some front teeth bumping into each other. One of the coolest things I have going on is that I can feel when one tooth or another moves out of the way and the one behind star...

Just a quick update...I had my first adjustment today. I've noticed that my son is watching very carefully for my attitude and responses to his carefully phrased questions about how my teeth are feeling. I hope he's not too nervous about getting them himself when the time comes.

I've been braced for almost 2 months now, and I've seen a great deal of movement. Most of the movement I have noticed has been in my bite. They placed some glue on my back molars to keep me from biting off the brackets, and it is not needed anymore. I had a lower incisor extracted and a upper latera...
