Do it!!! You will be so glad you did. There are no guarantees that you will find the right person in the next two years anyway--so if you put it off to find Mr. or Mrs. Right, you may find yourself 35 or 45 with crooked teeth wishing you fixed them sooner. WE get self-conscious about braces. NO ONE ...

My ortho is the same with the open room. (There is a private room for consultations, etc. and another for x-rays). I did have to laugh when I saw the open room for the first time because it brought back memories of my first ortho experience at age 13. I don't mind it because the seats are far enough...

I have a similar configurationi on both sides of my bottom teeth up to the front two. For me, they are trying to pull both sides backwards a bit to ease the crowding on the front two teeth. (One is pushed slightly out; the other slightly back.) He said by tying all of the teeth together like that, i...

Are they out of the gum or still in? I had one removed that was out--so it was basically just like getting a tooth pulled. I did that with just novicaine and he had it out before the assistant could even get her gloves on and get settled. I cracked up because it was one of the easiest dental procedu...

Relax!!! All will be well. You will hate them, you will love them, you will wish them off, you will tolerate them, and then you'll get them off. The result will be well worth it. I've had a set of lower clear braces for six weeks and I'm very used to them. I have seen great progress and as an added ...

I just read all of your dates and procedures. Personally, I'd be more worried about the surgery! I can't relate to your sensitivity issues, but I do know it will hurt initially and after an adjustment, but only temporarily. In fact, it isn't so much of a pain as it is a feeling of weak teeth.

My daughter is 7 and thinks their cool. It is nice I'll be able to relate to her, should she end up in them. My son is 2 and honestly, I don't think he's even noticed them. Not once has he asked about them and he's quite a communicator.

That makes sense. I've learned that clear isn't so clear once the ligs stain (constantly) anyway. Well, best of luck to you getting settled with them!! Smile!! Life is short.

Are you getting full metal upper and lower? I was pretty self-concious about this whole thing and opted for clear brackets (lower only--not bracing upper). There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I'm just curious as to what you chose.

Congratulations!

I'd like to know how you like your permanent retainer now and down the road. I'll be getting one and I think I'll like it over any other option. I've heard pros & cons. The flossing won't bother me, but if anything else quirky comes up, please post.

I can relate. I was so excited up until about an hour before my appointment. I got a bit nervous regarding my decision, but soon after they were on, I was excited again. I look forward to my appointments as well. I've had them for about 5 weeks now and am seeing progress. The excitement keeps on com...

Is it bumping your tooth or your bracket? If it's your bracket, maybe it's set up too high on your bottom tooth and the ortho can move it down...?

This has been an interesting read. I almost got Invisalign. The buttons pushed me over to the "no" side. My ortho never mentioned them during our consultation, nor did I see anything about them in the literature. I found them only when Googling real pictures (not advertisment photos) and b...
