Re: August Debrace Club!
I got my braces off today after 18 months woo!! Loving the results, although a whole hour in the dentists chair was a bit rough going to get them off! I've got fixed retainers on top and bottom and then I go back in a week to collect my Essix retainers which I'll wear at night. I had linguals on top...

I'd like to get my teeth whitened after I get them off but I am going to have fixed retainers on top and bottom as well as wearing a clear retainer at night...does anyone know if this...

Re: Researching upper lingual braces only, SPEECH problems?
Hey, I have got lingual braces on the top and had them on for 2 weeks before I got lower ceramics. My speech was slightly affected as your tongue is so used to making sounds off the back of your top teeth, it took me a few weeks till I sounded 100% normal although I was pleasantly surprised by the w...

Correction wire
Hey guys, Haven't posted in a while but thought I'd give you an update - last time I went for an adjustment the ortho said that I needed a 'correction wire' which was ordered from the makers of the brace to correct the torque (tilt angle) on two of my teeth. I had that fitted today and have to say i...

Re: Would you be happy with these teeth?
Hi, I think this is a really clear letter that puts your point across. I really hope your ortho sits up and takes notice. If things don't improve quickly it may well be worth seeking some legal advice about contract law, you could maybe mention that this will be your next step in the letter. Hope th...

Re: How is your ortho dealing with elastics/rubber bands?
I have upper linguals and lower ceramics so my elastics stretch from the outside of my bottom molar to the lingual bracket on my incisors - the elastics I have are black and havent caused a problem at all, nor are they visible :-D This is to fix an overbite, hopefully you have similar options if you...

Re: Lingual Braces Journey started . . .
Hi satbee, Congrats on starting the journey! Don't worry you'll get used to eating with them...and you don't need to stick to soft foods forever! I've tried eating pretty much everything and nothing has ever broken the brace or made the brackets come off. I'd say the only thing I've avoided is popco...

Re: Getting used to linguals
Hi there! I have upper lingual and lower ceramic - my main issues were an overbite, lower crowding and one protruding front tooth. I'm nearly done, due to get my braces off in a few months and have to say I've found the experience to be absolutely fine! I always say the only thing I miss is not bein...

Re: Treatment Longer Than Expected :-(
Good news - I get my final wire in 3 weeks then I'll be having a few adjustments in a short space of time....then I'm done!!
Its the elastics that have taken longer than expected, but now the end is in sight I'm a very happy bunny
Thanks for your support guys!!!

Re: Name the craziest/weirdest thing you've done while brace
Haha I like this forum topic :-D Hmmm...used a hair grip to poke out some bread that got stuck in my brace whilst out shopping... ...I'm always popping my elastics in and out at my desk at work, not sure if anyone's noticed but its sooo much trouble to go find somewhere private every time I want to ...

Treatment Longer Than Expected :-(
Hey guys! So I'm usually a positive poster on here...but I've suffered a minor setback... Originally when I went for a consultation (in November 2009) my ortho said that treatment would take around 12 months. Well it's now pretty much exactly 12 months after I started treatment, and apparently I hav...

Re: London Ortho - Dr. Sarah Hepburn (based in Harley Street
Hey there, My ortho is Paul Ward at Thames Orthodontics - he is brilliant and teaches other orthos (I've been the subject of one of his lessons before!) He specialises in Lingual braces (I have upper lingual, lower ceramic) The first consultation is also free - and from that they'll give you an esti...

Re: loose teeth??
Hey there,
I asked my ortho about my loose teeth...he said it's normal and they are likely to feel wobbly for a while, it's not until the roots set in your jaw that they will stop being wobbly.
Although it's worth asking at your next visit just to check
Don't panic!!

Re: lingual braces for an overbite?
Hey there, I think to answer this qu definitively you need to go have a consultation...but from what you say I don't see any reason why not? I had an overbite and when the braces first went on (upper lingual, lower ceramic), the ortho put a couple of temporary filling type things onto two of my top ...

Re: still having trouble eating with upper linguals
Hey there, Sorry to hear you're having trouble :-( I've had my upper linguals for a year now and to be honest eating is the only thing that still annoys me every now and then - but not because it's painful or I'm worried anything will break, just because food sometimes gets stuck! I'm not sure re th...
