Re: Am I a candidate?

Toothless, I agree with the advice you've received from others about consulting with multiple orthos, and I would add that you want to also consult with the prosthodontist who would do your implants now as well, and make sure the ortho and prosthodontist are used to communicating about a shared pati...

Re: Intro- 37 and looking at 2.5 yrs in braces :(

I totally get it - my teeth didn't really look bad either to any average person who knows me, and I have gotten a lot of "why did you get braces?" My lower teeth were much worse than my top and you just don't see my lower teeth unless I am really cracking up over something ;-). But like yo...

Re: Has anyone got tad's or is getting them. Got ????

I have one TAD located where one of my lower wisdom teeth was (taken out years ago) - my ortho used power chains to connect to a lingual button on my last molar, wrap around the TAD, and then connect to all my lower teeth. The goal was to pull all the lower teeth back and to one side. Installing the...

Re: Intro- 37 and looking at 2.5 yrs in braces :(

I got mine on at age 36 and I remember walking out of the ortho office that first day and feeling a combination of dread and excitement, that the clock had started ticking and my teeth would only be improving from that day forward! The time has moved pretty quickly and I bet you will get into it onc...

Re: Checking bite alignment - question please explain

My ortho does this every time too to check the bite. I have a very hard time relaxing my jaw enough for him to move it. He always asks me to point out where the first point of contact when I bite 'normally' as compared with when he shifts my jaw and I bite down. It doesn't hurt me at all and I haven...

Re: Teenager in headgear

I can't help but weigh in as an adult in treatment for the second time - I was sentenced to headgear when I had braces the first time around when I was 12, and I ripped it off in my sleep every night. Wearing headgear was the absolute worst. Regardless, here I am today, nearing the end of two more y...

Re: Invisalign and rotated canines? Confused!

I have invisalign on my uppers and regular braces on my lowers, and all my canines needed rotating. While my uppers are rotating successfully with the help of some funky looking attachments, the lower ones seemed to snap into line a lot more quickly with the traditional braces. Good luck!

Re: number of refinements

I had 20 aligners for the first go around and am now slowly working my way through my set of 13 refinements. In my case, I know there was a missed coordination between my ortho and my prosthodontist regarding a crown that needs more room around it so I can get it replaced after the ortho is complete...

I have also told the office manager/scheduler who I will not have as my tech for appointments. I noticed that the first one I complained about is no longer employed there. Speak up and good luck!

Re: Almost done.... and a teeth whitening question

I would consult with a prosthodontist or cosmetic dentist now and get them and your dentist to coordinate the end of your treatment relative to your retainers. I am planning to replace a front tooth crown at the end of my treatment, and my two docs have been coordinating final tooth placement and sp...

Re: questions about the end

Hopefully someone who has completed the whole process will answer your questions. I've just started my refinement trays and have asked about retainers and end of treatment - I think only your ortho can tell you what to expect for your case. I've heard that you keep wearing your last tray full time u...

Re: 14 Months 1 Week

Very impressive! You and I must have got our braces on within weeks of each other. I am getting super antsy for the whole thing to be done. What was your original estimate for length of treatment? Hope the rest of the time flies by!

Re: Anyone moving molars back (distally?) using TADs?

I have a TAD on one side, located where my wisdom tooth used to be, and its pulling my whole lower arch to that side. So far so good, the movement has been working. The worst part was getting the thing installed, it took my ortho three tries (over the course of 3 months) to get it in solidly enough ...

Re: Braces - estimated times

My original estimate was 27 months - and I haven't asked for an update on that. I like to hold on to the hope that it might be quicker, though I'm not counting on it!
