I have Damons as well, and have been braced for 5 months. In that time, I've had 2 visits, and just got a new wire at my last adjustment. My first one was similar to yours - the ortho told me things were looking good, and that was it! It was a bit anti-climactic, but totally normal --- patience is d...

I have been a severe chronic grinder/clencher for years, and always had a custom-made nightguard. Once I got braces, I had to switch to a Splintek nightguard. My ortho and dentist have both indicated it's totally fine to use, and is much better than NOT having one, at least in my case. It's not the ...

Congratulations, that is great news!! I'm sure you are thrilled! When you say "temporary night guard thingees", can you clarify what they were? :D I am a terrible nighttime grinder. I am currently using a Splintek guard, but have already ripped one of the bite pads practically in half - af...

There was no difference in price at my ortho's office either -- I went with Clarity ceramic self-ligating uppers, and got Damon Q self-ligating metal lowers due to bite issues. I have been quite happy with both, and like the fact that I don't have to worry about staining! :HugeGrin:

The choice to get ceramic or metal is definitely an individual one, and is something only YOU can decide. What is appealing to one person can be the polar opposite for someone else! As for myself, I have the Clarity ceramic self-ligating on top, and Damon Q metal lowers, and couldn't be happier. Bot...

I have Clarity ceramic self-ligating on top, and Damon Q self-ligating on the bottom... so no worries about staining for me! Definitely be sure you're keeping everything clean, and you shouldn't have any issues once the brackets are removed! :-}

I've been braced for 5 weeks tomorrow, and I started seeing small changes within the first week. My teeth are pretty crowded and overlapping in some spots, so I think the changes are more noticeable due to this. I'm quite pleased with what I've seen so far, but have a feeling that down the road it'l...

Unfortunately, I am a serious clencher/grinder and have been for years. :( Prior to braces, I wore a custom night guard to help protect my teeth. I got really spoiled by that.... now I wear a Splintek night guard, and it drives me crazy! Don't get me wrong - it's far better than nothing, but it's so...
