Are movements post-surgery expected?

I don't know if it's just my mind playing tricks on me but it seems my bite moved slightly post-surgery. I remember my midlines lining up perfectly right out of surgery but now it's shifted a tad off center. Is it normal for the shift or do you think it's just all in my head?

He probably means someone to take care of him after surgery. But jaw surgery doesn't make you bed ridden. If you're an independent person, you'll be fine after surgery.

Re: Flying home after surgery...OR looking after myself???

I personally was fine handling things by myself. Only needed someone to drive me to and from the hospital. Your first few hours home will be in bed sleeping. You may have issues taking medicine at first but it's really nothing anyone can help you with anyways. If you prep meals the first couple of d...

So has anyone been disappointed with their results?

Going into surgery 6 weeks ago, I was ecstatic to correct my bite and asymmetry in my face. In the back of my mind, I was concern that my surgeon would only take into consideration the correction of the bite without consideration for the cosmetics. He didn't do a lot of pre-op things that I read abo...

2 weeks post op on Monday. Swelling has mostly subsided. The inner cheeks are still somewhat sore and there is a patch below my lip that is still numb including the gum area. But what really bothers me is that I have clicking on my left side when I open and close my jaw. At first I thought it was ma...

dvd, if you're basing your concerns about your appearance on how you look right now, then it's much too early to be worried. It takes months before all the swelling goes down completely, and you can't tell the final results until then. I only went into this to fix my bite, but I know I shan't be ve...

Anyone somewhat let down by the results of their surgery? One of the reasons why I opted for this was to correct the asymmetry in my face but it seems the surgeon didn't do a whole lot. Sure my bite looks lined up now but I'm thinking that was his main goal instead of the overall goal of fixing the ...

If you can drink from a glass and have the liquid just go through your front teeth, that is the most sane way to do it. I tried the Zip and Squeeze bags and the syringes, they were both horribly slow. Imagine trying to drink a protein shake that you already dread the taste and having to do it SLOWLY...

5 days wired shut and I'm already sick and tired of it. Before going in, I thought no matter how long it took, I would be able to handle a prolong period of not being able to chew. But man I don't think I can go as long as 10 weeks. Here's to a speedy recovery for ya.

Does anyone have more issues with their teeth hurting than their actual jaw? The last 2 nights have been terrible trying to sleep. I could feel pressure on every single one of my teeth. It's almost the same pressure as when you get your braces adjusted for the first time except you're feeling it on ...

dvdrdiscs - In regards to the food and water, I wasn't thirsty or hungry, but I made myself eat/drink to help with my energy levels (not that it was a great deal of food) But I also noticed, the water helps to get the gunk off your tongue and mouth, but it also helps to keep everything nice and moi...

Mine are the same. Your top and bottom teeth are not suppose to meet up. Your top teeth should overlap your bottom teeth by a tad. This is what a normal bite looks like. Yeah but mine seems to overlap it by a tad more than I anticipated. I remember reading that surgeons sometimes overcompensate bec...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but braces isn't something that would be covered under health insurance like medicaid. Dental insurance covers it and that's sometimes difficult in itself. My dental insurance is Delta PMI and they only cover up to a certain amount. To be quite honest, if you can't ev...

I noticed that the top row of teeth sits right on my lower teeth's brace. It seems like the surgeon brought the lower jaw a tad bit further back than where it should be. Is this to compensate for eventual relapse?

I see. What about the lost of hearing? It feels like I just went up a high altitude and experienced a temporary lost of hearing. Like right now, I have to watch my TV at volume 18 when I normally would only need volume 10. When will it return to normal??? I also have not felt hungry or thirsty at al...
