Re: Anyone who has had genioplasty advice please!

Just had my surgery. I am going through the same thing. I'm not sweating it, though. it looks good, and other people describe the the same thing. How did yours turn out?

Re: Jaw surgery in Costa Rica

The hospital bill went from $3,500 estimated by my doc months prior to $5k official quote the week before surgery to over $6k at checkout. It sucked, but you see how I expected about $9k plus lodging to be not a bad deal for a Lefort and genioplasty. Airfare was free. In the end, I did end up paying...

Jaw surgery in Costa Rica

This is for anyone who is interested in surgery abroad as an alternative. I know the topic has been brought up before, but I don't know if anyone has done it. I had jaw a Lefort 1 with reduction genioplasty on March 7th in San Jose, Costa Rica with Dr. Jairo Vargas. A private hospital system here is...

Re: do damon braces really work faster

I have Damon braces now. I completely agree that they may work well in the beginning getting everything straightened out, but the tweaking is very difficult. There are a few teeth that need the bracket ripped off and repositioned every appointment yet still don't rotate into position. For a while no...

Re: Upper Jaw Surgery with Possible Genioplasty?

I have the same issue. We are not doctors, but doesn't that seem logical that the excess bone is going to be just shifted? It is like choosing between a profile and a frontal view. Anyway, please update us on what you decide or if your doctor sheds any light on this. Reductions seem impossible to fi...

Re: Anyone who has had genioplasty advice please!

Hello, Sorry that I cannot help you. My surgery will include genioplasty, but it is a few months away. Anyway, I have heard that ridges cant take up to six months to disappear. Wait it out and take it from there. Hopefully, once the swelling subsides the facial structure will settle into place, too.

The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IAOMS) governs all of the different associations that cover each continent. When you pick the area you live, be in America or Colombia or Iran, the IAOMS website will direct you to the only board which can certify doctors in that area....

If you're pre op, then you should be all the more excited to change this.
Yes, it's true, asymmetries barely noticeable in person are caught on camera. But look at Jennifer Connelly. She's beautiful and has a jaw asymmetry as well.

You're absolutely right. I think that portion of the bill doesn't kick in until 2014, though. I could be wrong.
I live in Pennsylvania, USA. Just went to the doc and ortho. Everything is set for braces with a 6-9 month prep time. Now for the biggest obstacle: insurance!

Insurance questions and advice...go figure! =)

Hello all, I have an insurance that will deny the surgery. My orthognathic surgeon, who I have only consulted with once, advised me to switch to another plan. I am going to switch to a Highmark product, which I will have to buy myself on a year to year contract. Because I have visited him, does this...

I had a rhinoplasty, although I have never had orthognathic surgery...yet, and the rhinoplasty was nothing after getting out of the hospital. Here is an abstract from a medical journal about combined rhinoplasty and orthognathic surgery. I am considering a second rhinoplasty WITH my upcoming orthogn...
