Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Mmm crunchy fried food. Actually, any food that isn't liquid would be nice. Hopefully I get my splint out on Friday and I can graduate to soft foods. Glad to hear nobody has any complications at this point. I've been avoiding my family. They all have colds. I think it would be very scary if I got on...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

I think he said that I would be no splint and still banded but with looser elastics. He said that at that point, I could start soft food. He also said that maybe, I'd be able to take the splint off for 5 minutes and brush my teeth at my next appointment. Fingers crossed!

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Had my first post-op. Everything looks great. I must have a really conservative OS. He told me that I'm tight banded with the splint for another 2 weeks. I'll be stuck on thin liquids until then. I've tried drinking thicker liquids but the splint just wont let anything else through. My back seems to...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

I'm back! Sorry I disappeared. My hospital was on strike but it turns out it was only some of the workers and they went back to work the next day. Fortunately, it was one of my OS's operating days so I didn't get bumped out of line. I'm now 5 days post op. The surgery wasn't too bad, the pain hasn't...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

I can't believe this. The support workers just walked off at my hospital in a wildcat (illegal) strike. Already, 50 surgeries have been cancelled in this region. I can't imagine I'm getting in tomorrow. I am so upset right now. This surgery is stressful enough already without this happening. I was j...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Endamut, since I'm just lower jaw too, you're giving me lots of encouragement. lattiee, good to hear the swelling is down. I also worry about my kids. My son is 8 and he already has crooked teeth and a crossbite. My daughter has an underdeveloped jaw. I'm sure they will be visiting the orthodontist ...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Welcome back, Endamut! Sounds like you are doing great except for the pain. Hopefully that get better. How is your swelling? I'm just having the lower jaw. I'm tight banded with elastics 3 weeks with a splint. I'm appreciating food now while I still can. The crispy chicken sandwich was great! I wond...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

lattiee, Through your cheek sounds awful. If you don't mind me asking, why did they go that route this time? I've heard of drainage tubes in the cheek but nothing major. Yes, 3 more days. Besides the cold, I also have the start of a migraine. That usually means I get my period is a couple of days so...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Good luck today, Endamut! lattiee, sorry, I was confused. I'd heard plate removal was easy but I guess yours was anything but. I hope you get some feeling back in your cheek. Ashleigh, good luck at your post op. Hope you can have a good night's sleep soon. I'm still fighting the cold. I'm going to t...

Re: February 2012 Surgery Buddies

Woodwillow, you actually look not bad, bruises and all. I can see that you are very swollen but it already looks really good. Such a lovely shade of yellow :) Worldpeace, congrats on making it home. I laughed at your Sherman comment. That's quite a visual! Lattiee, good luck with the plate removal. ...
